Granted, there IS this list, but I don't know whose opinions they are.

The only movie I ever saw of his was the 1971 "Delusions of Grandeur."
Someone once said that as a comic actor, he was "as close to Donald
Duck as a human being can get."
Lenona.
I saw the gendarme movies, but i thought they were rather dull. Also,
l'homme de Orchestre was not that great. The fantomas movies were not my cup
of tea either. But if you have a look at some of those that i lsited above,
i think you will be struck by how varied they are, and how different the
setting is.

AFAIK, it's the only de Funes to go into general distribution in the US,
and IIRC it flopped at first. But later on it played for months at a
mid-sized second-run house in a Jewish neighborhood here, to packed
houses on weekend nights, who rolled on the floor (me included) and
didn't give a damn about the subtitles.

Liked him in both. I always thought he would have made a great
Inspector Clouseau - pity it never happened.

...and directed by John Landis. One of the few movies I've ever seen that
I knew was going to be a stinker from the opening shot - in which no actors
appear or dialog is heard.
