David Nicholls, 58, died from mesothelioma, an asbestos-related cancer
of the lining of the lungs, abdomen and heart. Nicholls had parts in
blockbuster films such as Gladiator and Gangs of New York. He
contracted mesothelioma as a teen-ager.doing factory work, where he
had contact with asbestos lagging used to insulate pipes. The full
