Fairly cheesy, naive and innocent 80's movie, with Helen and Christian
Slater. Helen Slater starred in Supergirl (1984)...and I can see why.
Tagline:
"When you're seventeen, people think they can do anything to you. Billie
Jean is about to prove them wrong."
"A Texas teenager cuts her hair short and becomes an outlaw martyr with
her brother and friends"
:)
IMDB says: "Both she and Christian Slater achieved early success in
their careers playing brother and sister in The Legend of Billie Jean
(1985), leading many to believe they were real-life siblings. Although
they share the same last name, they are not, in fact, related."
Soundtrack for the movie included Rebel Yell by Billy Idol and
"Invincible" by Pat Benatar. So yeah, very 80's. Not quite "Footloose"
or "Quicksilver" though, haha.
Rating 6/10.
Pat Benatar - Invincible:

Enjoy the versatility of flamenco guitar playing apparent on Tropico
(Painted Desert), somewhat like Heart for the style moving into pop;-
Nice, and with a ton of vocal command, although creatively there's
difficulties past that. Haven't looked for what specific reasons
caused it -- being she's pretty, possibly demure in stature, more or
less hot enough to sizzle -- interesting conjectures to start.
Not that folk song I'm thinking of in a "Billy Joe/Jean" movie where
he's porked at a Southern dance, in the parking lot, dazed and
confused, then somehow wanders to lose his footing when stepping off a
bridge. More along Terminator 1 and first the dance scene fight club
with Reese and T1 - very Benetaresque (syncopated partial thirds
comprising reductive two-note power chords?).
Dunno about that, but as a curiosity it should be mentioned that in her
concerts, Benatar has a habit of saying that Invincible is a song from
the worst movie ever, heheh. Of course she's wrong, Supergirl was worse.
But Helen Slater was a really really pretty gal back then so I guess
that's a reason to watch Supergirl, too.
Interesting. See where guitarist Giraldo -- 1st guitarist on MTV,
produced Benatar's work (reminds me of Heart's guitarist). There's a
saying, you're only 5 or 10 people away from anyone. Before Benetar,
he worked with Rick Derringer. Derringer was in town a few weeks
ago;- ran into a friend (only claim to fame hit from an early "bubble
gum" group) at the grocery store checkout, who told me he'd be meeting
Derringer, evidently a long-time bond as Derringer taught him to play
lead. Low end of the chitlins circuit, somewhat popular hangout when
things get to cold up there.

Helen Slater was in Lassie(1994) with Tom Guiry, who was in Mystic River
with Kevin Bacon...
Helen Slater was in Secret of My Success with Cindy Crawford who was in
We Married Margo(2000) with Kevin Bacon.
Also I checked if Michael J Fox and Kevin Bacon have been in same movie,
since it seemed unlikely that they weren't:
Helen Slater was in Secret of My Success with Michael J Fox...who was in
TV movie "The Magic 7" with Kevin Bacon.
...And I've met Todd Rogers(King of Kong) who has met Olivia Newton John
who starred in The Magic 7 with Kevin Bacon...
:-P
Heh, never heard about that one...
Here's Slater in Supergirl:
