Hey,
Over the last half century or so, the revenge film has mutated in a myriad number of ways. Gone are the Hollywood compromised versions and the slack has been taken up by stories from other cultures. Of all of those – that l’ve seen – this is my favorite.
The story concerns a political bombing – by neo-Nazis – that kills the husband and young son of a woman who witnessed the bomb being planted although she didn’t realize it at the time. The police are on the case and a couple are arrested for the bombing. After a court trial, the couple are released on a technicality.
The story continues – supported by a riveting performance by Diane Kruger directed by Faith Akin – and where it goes is as surprising as it is credible.
