There are a few minor parts in Saving Private Ryan,
though it would be nit-picking to mention it:-)

This has to be films with only one gender - exclusively. I checked
your first one, "Saving Private Ryan", and Anna Maguire is featured as
"Jean's daughter", Dorothy Grumbar as "Old French Woman", Valerie
Colgan as "War Department Clerk", Kathleen Byron as "Old Mrs. Ryan".

I had heard this as a good trivia question as well: Name the only movie
in which every actor was nominated for an Academy Award.

But it's been a long time since I had seen it, so I looked it up on
IMDB and it lists 4 other people, including one woman.

Don't recall any women at all in the film; I'd like to know where one
appears.

"Flight of the Phoenix" (1965) is another one. No women, but there is
a dream sequence (Ernest Borgnine?) where he dreams of a belly dancer.

I'll have to watch it again to get the time stamp (subject to version). Cole, as noted, worked on continuity on "Lawrence of Arabia" (and lots of films before and after). David Lean inserted her as a nurse, on-screen and uncredited. She and Lean began an affair and she was his mistress for 5 years, until she was replaced as his mistress by Sandra Hotz, who eventually was promoted to his fifth wife.

I'd like to know where a nurse makes an appearance.

"Camera man Fred Young re-sights through his viewfinder. Continuity
girl Barbara Cole wipes her goggles and checks her shorthand notes. At
the last second, a bright blue beach umbrella is set up over the
second camera, which is nearly cooking its film in the shimmering
heat. Mr. Lean bites his lip and tensely awaits the right second to
start. Here comes the wind again."

http://www.nytimes.com/packages/html/movies/bestpictures/lawrence-ar1.html

"Lean shared Lawrence's passion for the desert, and his experience of
shooting the film was enriched by his harmonious relationship with the
cinematographer, Freddie Young, and his romantic involvement with the
New Zealand-born Barbara Cole, who handled continuity on the film. Ann
Todd had divorced Lean in July 1957, and in July 1960 he married Leila
Matkar. But it was with Barbara Cole that he spent most of the next
seven years."

http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/printable/49869

"Oh yes, Lawrence of Arabia counts. Barbara Cole makes an uncredited
appearance but she is not an actress, she was the continuity girl who
happened to be on hand."

Plus, with that relatively abundant cast (indeed, none of them female)
I'm not sure it's a version I'd find entirely familiar.

If it helps, his sixth (and final) wife was Sandra Cooke.

Her status before or after her minor role in Lawrence of Arabia seems neither here nor there. "Professional-more-than-one-role" did not appear as a qualification in the OP ("assignment"). And some consider appearing on-screen and in-costume in an international film to constitute "actress", at least as an extra.

She appeared on-screen in an otherwise single-gender (male) film. Your quote of the opinion of "JamesM from Scotland" on a British blog site is less than impressive.

But hey, following the Calvin precedent, it is YOUR thread.

I remember a movie where there was a party with women only - one had a
30th birthday, one a 40th birthday and one a 50th birthday (I think).
If I remembered the title, I'd check to see if it had male actors in
it.

"We're No Angels" 1954, renewed 1982 starring Humphrey Bogart,
Aldo Ray, Peter Ustinov. Costarring Leo G Carroll, Basil Rathbone
(and Joan Bennett).

Humphrey Bogart plays on of his rare comedy roles in this jaunty
excursion about three convicts who are plotting their escape from
Devil's Island. Fate intervenes when they hide out with kindly but
inept Felix (Carroll) and his family. Felix manages a store for his
arrogant cousin Andre (Rathbone), who makes the mistake of
stealing Albert's pet, a poisonous snake. After resolving Felix's
problems, the convicts return to prison, convinced the world is much
to wicked.

I thought "Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean" was
women only. But there seems to be a male credit in the movie. Maybe
just the play...

Plus the second lead (Debrah Van Valkenburg or something), the
undercover cop, several other minor roles.

If we are going by imdb cast lists, then Shirin -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1284587/

There are in fact male voices in the (unseen) film the woman are
watching, but they are not credited.

And some of the extras behind each featured "Woman in the audience" do
appear to be men. Although there is possibly a thing where if the whole
face of an audience member behind the featured actress is shown, it is
always a woman. My understanding is that movie theatres in Iran are
segregated, so there could be an element of tweaking the tail of the
government by showing several "part faces" of what appear to be men in
breach of that segregation, without ever showing enough of the face to
allow it to be obvious. On the other hand, it could just be that all the
extras were female, and only the prettier ones got their whole face on
screen, with the more butch ones pushed to the fringes :)

Just in case no one's cited it yet:

THE WOMEN (1939) - no men in it at all, although they sure talk about them a lot.

Don't think The Great Escape (1962) had any credited female cast members.

And she was funny and -- unlike most sci-fi films of the time -- didn't have a pointy bra and high heels. Also totally unlike the times is the older woman scientist. Hawks' best flick as far as I'm concerned.
