Hardly likely, since the two productions were in competition with each other.
Costner (whom I heard characterized as a bland egomaniac) managed to rewrite
"Wyatt Earp" to death, but scanning the awful tie-in novel by the screenwriter
he may have had no choice.
Kevin Jarre's script for "Tombstone" was a lot better, but a little more than
half survived before he got canned in place of a hack who knew how loud a star
can talk.

Costner is also not the German sniper in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.
But that WAS Ted Danson. Oh, how we laughed.
