Erin Fleming, who was Groucho Marx's companion during his later years, died
this past April 15th. She died in obscurity, but her passing has been
discovered and posted in the Marx Brothers newsgroup, and confirmed by
Steven Stoliar, Groucho's former secretary and archivist.

Fleming was 61.

If I'm not mistaken, she had a part in Woody Allen's "Everything You Always
Wanted to Know about Sex". Another of the Woodman's salutes to the great
Groucho.

I recall some nasty scandals regarding her alleged abuse of the ailing Groucho.

If this is the same person I'm thinking of, George Burns took her side in court
against Groucho's relatives regarding his will. Burns said that anyone who
would put up with Groucho deserved all the money she could get.

Lenona.

Yup, she was the blonde assistant to Victor Shakapopolis (Allen) in the
segment in which John Carradine played a mad scientist embarking on
heinous human sexual research.

I thought she was the girl in the car during the Allen-as-sperm sequence.
The assistant in the Carradine bit was Heather McCrea, wasn't it?

And, IIRC, so did Zeppo.

It is all recounted in the excellent book Raised Eyebrows by Steve Stoliar.
It details Groucho's final years from the vantage point of someone who was
there.

You're right, Jim. Fleming is the girl who surrenders her virtue in
the car (an easy task, since, if you recall, she attends New York
University). Reportedly Groucho, a big fan of Woody's, considered
Fleming's scene to be in bad taste.
