silent cinema's piano music and bucolic lasse hallstrom arent enough
to detract from the inexpressivity and simplicity, and so inhumanity,
involved in aesoping dogs to pieces, a bit like when colin firth, the
accidental husband, can only say i love u to pieces, is not enough to
make of a human figure a quirky nutty and lovably hating loon goon of
a thing, of moral failures abounded with supporting linguistic
parabolas, and so shortcoming this year's teddy bear. better than the
80s original, thou, being that one more contrived, the dog actually
wondering to more defined places for what reason i know not, and yet
with the advantage it had of not taking up the arse the usual these
days habit of covering the soundtrack for two hours with average
music, that not being enough thou to beat gere's expressivity and all
around ness which on its own was better than marley and me's humans,
howevering a rest of the stuff that was below that, woody harrelson
too was capable of sustaining a piss poor messenger, hachiko reloaded
of course better than the japanese prof and a japanese cinema that has
problem in its ppl, too uptight so many times. both mooees have an
obviously obscene political implication. the jap was about the 20s and
30s, japanese invasions are barely remarked, and this amoral hazard
balthazar arse tripe is unacceptable, which takes us onto the
unacceptability of dogs in general, an amorality we'd have to double
bill with sam fuller's white dog on immanence of human actions (errol
morris or christopher guest sustained further that love of dogs was
misanthropy overload, so as an example of loyalty in paradise lost,
well hardly) but done before the japanese financial collapse of debt
in the 90s, despicable paean to a lost age before its optimism too is
laid to rest by a decade of real estate flatness, hachiko's is also
set in contemporary america, around the time of iraq war, with that
repulsive suburban habit of putting country flags on the houses and
just before its financial collapse, both professors quite complicit,
capra goes to a war zone, soldiering on the deontology of dogs and
humans, and when asked who did it, say it was the dog cinema

I suspect this will be on TV soon. Tho I collect animal related films I
have many I have yet to watch due to the toll they take on me. A Dog
Named Christmas ( Hallmark 2009 ) is a fine story about man/dog
relationship.
