I just noticed on Netflix, they have a documentary about speed
riding. Speed riding is skiing downhill while attached to a
paraglider (crescent moon shaped parachute). It's called "Ride &
Fly". I haven't viewed it yet, but the videos on YouTube about
speed riding are very impressive.

Another, even better application for a paraglider is powered
paragliding (or "paramotoring"). There are a jillion example
videos on YouTube, and it is definitely documentary material. It's
the lightest and cheapest form of powered flight known to mankind.
It's a practical replacement for the long sought after jet pack,
except that it requires a few feet of runway.

Anybody know of a documentary on powered paragliding?

Forget the speed riding documentary on Netflix, it sucks IMO. Not
enough speed riding, and too much crappy music. Much better just
to search YouTube.

As it's a tv documentary I've placed it Off-Topic but there was a tv
documentary which followed a couple of teams doing an around Britain
event. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/16658211

When I usta live in the SFBA, I often go to the beach. I once saw a
group of paragliders with a different twist. They would anchor
themself to a bluff overlooking the ocean and ride the incoming wind
while tethered to the bluff with 100-200 ft lines.
