Just returning to this briefly because I finally watched the DVD of
this movie and there's no "grandma" anywhere to be seen. Consequently
there is no Elsa Lanchester. The missing seven minutes was an
alternative scene at the start of the film round the breakfast table
(it's discussed on the IMDB message board by someone who has seen it)
with just the four main characters (Chevy Chase, his wife and two
kids) talking about going to Hawaii. No grandma there either. The
woman who died and was put onto the top of the wagon was Aunt Edna,
played by Imogene Coca. The 'Christmas Vacation' movie was made in
1989, several years after Elsa had died. In short, she was never in
this film, so goodness knows how she came to be listed in the cast on
IMDB. The reference is confusing so should be deleted!
