For a friend's wedding, he would like to have Alfred Newman's "Ann Rutledge
Theme" from YOUNG MR. LINCOLN (and reprised in THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY
VALANCE) played. Has it ever been recorded for release? The tracks of the
films themselves are not practical, as they contain dialogue. It would
surprise me if this, one of Newman's most famous pieces, hadn't been
recorded by someone for CD, but I suppose stranger things have happened.
Any ideas?

I'm not sure, Jim. But the happy couple couldn't do better than to
promenade down the aisle to the stirring strains of Newman's
"Conquest" march from the Captain from Castile! Have they considered
that?

Or they can hire a string trio to play the Ann Rutledge Theme right
there at the wedding. That would be nice! Any decent trio would be
able to quickly concoct an arrangement for themselves based on the
sheet music, which was at one time available (& might still be) from
Warner Brothers Publications (WB.168).

I'm sure they haven't, since the Ann Rutledge theme has special significance
for them. The Castile score is wonderful, of course, but not particularly
pertinent to their personal background together.

Warner Bros. Publications was purchased by Alfred Publishing, but the Alfred
catalog doesn't seem to have anything by Alfred Newman at all (interestingly
enough, given the company's name!).

I'll keep searching. Thanks.
