Actress Catherine O’Hara is in awe that the child actor who played her son in
the iconic Christmas film, “Home Alone,” is now older than she was when she
made the movie.

“He’s 43. That’s older than I was when I played his mother!” the 69-year-old
Hollywood star told People Magazine about her co-star Macaulay Culkin. “I
think I was 32.” The publication noted that “Home Alone” was filmed in early
1990 when O’Hara was 34.

“He’s got a lovely wife to be, and two beautiful kids. And he just seems
really happy, and I’m very happy for him,” she added.

The actress had nothing but good things to say about working on the beloved
holiday film.

“I need to care about the whole thing. I don’t care to do a great role in a
bad project. You want to be part of something good, and that’s how you go.
Then the people that you’re going to get to work with and the experience, the
day-to-day experience. And in that case, it was lovely. All those kids that
played our children were just lovely,” O’Hara continued.

“[Director] Chris Columbus, lovely man. He’s a family guy himself. I think he
had like five kids already at the time. And [screenwriter] John Hughes. John
Hughes wasn’t there a lot, but wrote such a beautiful script, obviously. It’s
a perfect movie, isn’t it?”

The actress was also there when Culkin got a star on the Hollywood Walk of
Fame last month.

“‘Home Alone’ was, is and always will be a beloved global sensation … the
reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching
and loving ‘Home Alone’ together is because of Macaulay Culkin,” she said
during her speech.

“You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And thank you for
including me, your fake mom who left you home alone not once but twice, to
share in this happy occasion. I’m so proud of you,” she added.

While speaking with People, O’Hara mentioned that she didn’t know Culkin
would be standing by her when she delivered her remarks.

“I didn’t know he’d be standing beside me when I spoke,” she told the outlet.
“So it was much more personal than I knew it would be. I really wanted to
honor him because he worked so hard as a child. You don’t appreciate that.
It’s hard to appreciate that a child is really working. But he really made it
look natural.”

O’Hara is known for “Home Alone” but also starred in other successful
projects, including the TV shows “Second City Television” and “Schitt’s
Creek” and films such as “After Hours” (1985), “Beetlejuice” (1988), and “The
Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993).

She won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Moira Rose on
“Schitt’s Creek.”

Both listed ages are incorrect. If she was b. in Mar of '54, she would have been 36 in 1990. Technically 35 assuming the film began production in Jan. Either way the age listed is still off by a year. Where did this article originally appear? Not that I care about the film or Culkin, I simply want to know what they were both smoking during this interview? eheeee
