Hello everyone. I am interested in how reincarnation has been handled
in films, especially and was wondering if I could get some suggestions
about good bollywood films about reincarnation.
Thanks

There have been many such made but most of them were in Black and white era.
in the last 2 or so decades I can only recall about 3:

Karz (very good) but copied from Reincarnation of Peter Proud
Radha Ka sangam (absolute junk)
Bees Saal Baad (the one in 80's starring Dimple & Mithun). this is ok
Karan Arjun [haven't seen it but was a hit]

I am sure there are many more.

Mehbooba - Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini (good songs, bad movie)
Kudrat - (-ditto-) Good songs, OK movie
Love you Hamesha (Kajol, Saif Ali Khan, Aditya Pancholi)
Nagin, Nagina etc.

Madhumati!!
One of the best re-incarnation films ever made. Great music (Salil
Chowdhury's most acclaimed score and also most memorable). Great
cinematography (notable example of outstanding outdoors captured in
black and white) and brilliant direction (Bimal Roy ofcourse!).

I would call Madhumati the definitive re-incarnation drama that
inspired most of the films in the list above.

I thought about it, but I always thought Madhumati to be a 'Ghost'-type movie
rather than about re-incarnation. 'Mahal' with Ashok kumar/madhubala also is
good in that category. Great b&w photography.

Mahal is not really a reincarnation movie but rather a fake reincarnation.. of
which we have many examples.

Would ' AKS ' qualify as a reincarnation movie apart from being a
terrible movie?!

Madhumati actually does a strong backdrop of reincarnation. The entire
film is a recall of the previous life of Dilip, which of course has a
good dose of 'ghost' concept thrown in.

I forget, doesn't Sahib, Bibi aur Ghulam also have a similar line, Guru
Dutt coming across the bones of Meena Kumari triggers a tri pback to his
previous life!!

Someone mentioned Jhuk Gaya Aasmaan. That film deals doesn't deal with
reincarnation, since Rajendra Kumar returns to earth in an alternate
body after a "wrongful death".

There are some 'almost' reincarnation movies.

Neel Kamal could be one of those movies. It has nice songs like 'Tujuko
pukare mera pyar".

Also, Aradhana starring Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore. The father
(RKhanna) dies and the son (RKhanna) is born afterwords.

Another recent movie whose title I cant remember (could be Hatyaar) is a
gunda movie starring Sanjay Datta, Namrata Shirodkar, where the father son
and grandson were the same Sanjat Datta.

Then you have another recent movie English Babu, Deshi Mem starring SRKhan
and Suneli Bandre. In the movie there the father (SRKhan) dies and two sons
(both SRKhan) one of whom also dies.

Thanks bud.

Dilip
