I don't think I have seen a single movie of Harry
Baweja.
Am asking because I always felt Zakhm was the
first time Ajay Devgun proved that he was a very
good actor. But someone told me that he has done
very well in Diljale.
I dont remember Diljale but I do remember another Harry Baweja film
called Dilwale with Madhoo and Suniel Shetty. In that Ajay Devgan is in
a mental institution and to show us how bored he was(or whatever the
point was) he had memorised the Bombay telephone directory.
Did anyone else notice that Baweja has a Karan Johar thing going
on,when he talks?You know what I mean!
This is what Dustin Hoffman does in Rainman - memorise the
phone book.
Hasn't anyone seen the movie?
AP, even you haven't seen it????

yeah. By all means, Diljale is considered by serious public in
which Ajay Devgan tried to come out of his
simultaneously-riding-two-bikes sort of stunts created by his
dad (phool aur kante).
The film was run of the mill in most area, but Ajay excelled in
it in every frame.
As you have seen later films in which Ajay was even better, you
might find it not that good, but can see for the sake of history.
Diljale started the upliftment of Ajay Devgan, the way Pyar kiya
to Darna Kya's murgi-chor role started the downfall of Salman
Khan from a cute lover boy to a come-kick-me joker.
I have seen it. The whole auditorium was full of college kids and we
enjoyed the silliness. It became a cult classic for us.
We recite those dard-bhare "sher" even today whenever we get a chance.
Verdict: To be enjoyed with a group of like-minded friends who want to
enjoy the comic seriousness. It will help if you are a bit drunk. It
used to be great fun to shout these out in a group with the catchy tune
of Shaam hain dhuan dhuan..
(found a lyrics site that had all the sher.. my memory is little
foggy.. the tagline was Story of a terrorist or something like that. )
Aarzoo jhoot hai, kahaani hai
Aarzoo ka fareb khaana nahin
Khush jo rehna ho zindagi mein tumhe
Dil kisi se kabhi lagaana nahin
Kyoon banaati ho tum ret ke yeh mahal
Jinko ek roz khud hi mitaaogi tum
Aaj kehti ho is diljale se pyaar hai tumhe
Kal mera naam tak bhool jaaogi tum
Ek pal mein jo aakar guzar jaata hai
Yeh hawa ka voh jhonka hai, aur kuch nahin
Pyaar kehti hai yeh saari duniya jisse
Ek rangeen dhoka hai, aur kuch nahin
:-). Mat dekh baap, seriously there is nothing in the movie worth your
time. Usual story of father getting his daughter's boyfriend arrested
and labelled as a terrorist, killing his family etc after which the
hero actually becomes a dreaded terrorist named Shaaka or some such
thing.
If you really wanted to see the first movie where AD displayed acting
abilities, you can see Divyashakti where he proved himself as a actor
and it came much before Diljale.
http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Divyashakti-25494-1.html (a bad review,
sorry couldn't find anything better)
Its an okay movie for its times. AD was pretty good for his 3rd or 4th
movie IIRC. The scene where he reacts to his sister's (Natasha) death
was really good.
BTW Why this sudden interest in Diljale?
> AP, even you haven't seen it????
Of course, I have ;-)
Not even Qayamat? That was an ok movie. Chunky was pretty good, and Ajay was
decent.

I probably avoided that movie (as anything with Ajay Devgan was mostly
avoidable those days).

Dilwale Raveena, Diljale Madhu.

Has anyone seen those ads on Zee Tv ( may be other networks too) where Harry
Baweja Shravan Rathore and Satish Kaushik are scouting for talent? Harry
Baweja puts on such a fake accent its not funny. And Sharavan seems like
hinting at the fact that you needto sleep with him to get a chance.
BTW, Whats up with Nadeem these days? is he in India or UK? what happened
to the case against him?
Thank
Should have read Thanks. hit CTRL S way too quickly :)
Utterly avoidable fare. The me'nage `a trois is the only
interesting part of the movie. Even that's pretty crude.

I saw a 'Deewane' a late 90s movie with AD playing a double
role with Urmila making it a triangle. It was marketted (in US) as a
trilogy of sorts from this Harry Baweja guy (Diljale-Dilwale-Deewane).
I think all three are avoidable movies.

They look like a shady bunch of pimps.

He is still a fugitive hiding from Mumbai police in the Gulshan Kumar
murder case. The Ad says he is based in UK.

He played the religion card and his lawyers convinced UK court that he
will never get a fair trial in India as he is a muslim and he might
even get killed if he is extradited. UK, in a decision that can be
costly only to them, agreed to let another Dubai Mafia player live in
UK.
Of course, this was much before London bombings and he must be watched
very closely now.
