Berlin, Feb. 12 (AP) - Even after more than 50 years in
the film business, French actress Jeanne Moreau says she
wants to stay down to earth.
"My first reaction is to feel a little embarrassed," she
said yesterday before receiving a special Golden Bear
Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Berlin Film
Festival. "The only way to go forward is to have a little
humility," she told AP Television News in an interview.
Moreau (72) began her film career in 1949 and worked with
many leading directors, including Francois Truffaut in
Jules et Jim and Orson Welles in Chimes at Midnight. She
has continued to act in films up through the 1990s while
branching out as well to direct films and even music
videos.
The 50th Annual Berlin Film Festival, which runs through
February 20, is showing a retrospective of her work,
including a special screening of the 1966 Tony Richardson
adaptation of Jean Genet's Mademoiselle.
