I recently brought the audio to the movie HUM SAAB CHOR HAIN (btw, has
pretty neat songs), anyway, that's not what i have to talk about.
In the tape they have a commercial of Annu Mallik's new album EYES,
which is repeated after every song and can make you want to break the tape
into two.
Man, this guy is totally derranged...even though he can't sing a note, he
has to make a album of his "besuri awaaz". This worst part is that it's
in ENGLISH...gee...man, this dude is desperate for attention.
Can he get any bad???? I guess so.
There is a song "you look to me a VIRGIN, your smile is like a VIRGIN" which
is a copy of "Yeh Kaali Kaali Aakhen". Also, another song "everytime you look to me, my heart
goes BOOM BOOM", i mean get Real!
I don't think i have laughed so much in a long time
It's time for him to retire from the music industry and admit himself in
the MADHOUSE!
If anybody has heard of it knows the pain of rewinding a tape after every
song just to avoid the sickness you accumulate in the stomach.

I just had to share this with all of you, if you have any
comments...please feel free to voice it.
man.....ha hahahhahahahahahahaha.....
A Psycho is LOOSE!!!
Thanks!

I agree with you 100%. This guy has absolutely no talent what so ever.
All his music is copied from somewhere. I wonder why he is the number
one music director currently??

Rahman is no doubt no.1 and Jatin-lalit are a close second.

You are right and you know it! It can get MUCH worse!! There's a video
at least to the EYES song - and that is the REAL HORROR!

Of course it's not attention he's looking for but money, plain and simple!
I had to listen to him promoting that trash and to me it was quite obvious
that he's trying to sell his records in the UK, USA and Canada to cash in
the big way - the idea isn't that bad: Recycle the scores you've done for
the movies, get someone to write english lyrics and sell it to the
western audience. The Bhangra music scene (all that Bollywood Flashback
stuff) is a perfect example on how to do it.

But Anubhai, PLEASE (!) do a few more copies of NFAKs' qawaalis instead
and we all will live happily ever after ...

[OFF TOPIC] Talking of NFAK: I watched a video (!) of his version of the
Mera Piya Ghar Aaya song - very good (he shouldn't appear in his own
videos though ;-) Is he usually doing videos???? Where are those shown??

[BACK ON TOPIC] This Anu guy is really fantastic! There was an interview
where he was asked directly about his tendency to copy. And this man sung
parts of the songs, sounding EXACTLY like the originals and he had the
courage to explain why his versions are totally DIFFERENT!! I like his
music anyway, copy or not - it's only the person I can't stand ;-)

Maybe not yet, but he might be soon! Have you heard the songs
Chandralekha and Pyaar kabhi na from CHOR CHOR??? Rehman must
have been listening a while to western music before he wrote
those songs. He did it very well - writing, I mean!!

Just curious: What is the tamil title of CHOR CHOR and who's
in it? Heera (Ranjagopal) seems to be there but not in a lead.

Has Prabhudeva's clan something to do with the choreography?

I hit upon the perfect reply to this in another post in this group, by
(amazingly!) the same poster. Here it is. My only contribution has been
to replace all occurrences of "KUMAR SANU" in the original post with
"ANNU MALLIK." The result is:

Hey Prince,

This was hilarious. Haven't read a more witty reply in a long time.

On a side note - I read a review of "Eyes" in one of the film magazines in
India this winter. Here is a quote from that review -
"Anu Malik singing in English is like Michael Jackson singing in Gujrati".
Coudln't agree more.

The Tamil title is "Thiruda Thiruda" and the telugu title is "Donga Donga".
Heroes: Prashanth, Anand (I guess, he is a newcomer).
Heroines: Anu Agarwal and Heera Rajagopal.

Prabhudeva, I think, is the choreographer of this movie.

Its called Thiruda Thiruda in Tamil and stars Prashanth, Anand,
Heera (Its Rajagopal) and Anu Agarwal.

Yes, he choreographed Chandralekha and his dad did the other songs.
His father won the National Award for his work in the movie in 1993-4.

NO, he has been around for a long time. Among others, he has appeared in...

Poonthota Kavalkaran (as the second lead after Vijaykanth)
Satya (as Kamal's friend)
Appu Raja (as Rupini's Boyfriend).
Also, he was the hero in Divya Bharati's movie debut (called Nila Ponnu or
something).

ObTrivia - He is the brother of Bharat Arun - former Tamil Nadu and
Indian opening bowler.

I dont know about the rest of the songs in Bazigar but the songs "Ye Mere

I also am of the opinion that "Sweeping Statements that he has no talent at

and copying or "being inspired by other tunes for whatever reason (as is
usually put by MD's" has been a commonplace in Hindi Music anyway! The so
called "evergreen greats" like S&J, OPN, L&P and C. Ramchandra just to name
a few have all been culprits in past.
One can go even earlier than early sixties and would find copying to be there. For ex. anarkali, and Miss Mary songs have been copyies almost note by note
from the original telugu movies.
Added to this, we have these days the so called "Remixes". I have heard for
ex. so many versions for Chura Liya but nothing comes close to the original
and I dont knwo why these are getting popular.

I know this might be vague, but I also know that the title song "Baazigar
O Baazigar" was in fact a copy. Sitting in India one day last summer, I
was watching old songs on the TV when Kishore Kumar (B/W) was singing a
song as the hero in the film. This song had the exact same tune as the
line "Baazigar O Baazigar, Tu Hai Bada Jaadugar". If anyone can remember,
that would be great.

I don't think so. And I don't think many will agree about this "close
resemblence".

About the "Ye mere humsafar" and "bazigar o bazigar", I would say that
"Bequabu ho gaya" will also sound similiar. Still I will not say they
"closely resemble" each other.

I think the song you are referring to is "Kaun hai jo sapnoN meiN aaya" from
the movie "Jhuk Gaya Aasmaan" although this song was sung by Rafi. The
opening line strongly resembles Baazigar O Baazigar.

Also, the intro. to "Kaali kaali aankheN" is also a copy from an English tune
called the "Cover Girl(s) (?)". Can anyone confirm this ??

Although "Nazare Mili Dil Dhadka" is a straight lifted from the
"Come September" tune, it's a delightful song, catches the spirit
of the original "Come September" tune. Give the MD some credit !

"Ae mere humsafar" from Bazigaar is a DIRECT copy of the following
song that is picturized on Kishore / Madhubala (?) in a car flying
through the sky!

Film: Mr. X in Bombay
MD: Laxmikant Pyarelaal
Singer: Kishore Kumar

Yup, "NazareiN mil dil dhadka" is copied from "Come September" in RAJA. The
other song you are referring to is from the movie BAAZI picturized on Aamir
Khan (yes, Kavita sang the song and NO I am not drunk :) The MD was Anu Malik,
I am almost certain BAAZI came out before RAJA but the N-S version was a much
bigger hit.

Song : Khub surat Jahan ( or something like that)
But to be fair only the first three words sound same. ALso as I have
mentioned previously here, the song from Love In Tokyo, Aaazare Aaa Zara
is closer to Ae mere Humsafar than any other song. (some body mentioned
"Jo Jhuk Gaya Aasman Bhi" a middle of the line from JHuk gaya aasaman
title song also resembles it.. true. ). I am sure if you explore you will
find dozens of songs where you can find resemblances for about three words
or so. No big deal at all! It is probably true for any song in that case.
JUST FOR THE RECORDS, the title song Jhuk Gaya aasman is almost true copy
of elvis song from "fun in acapulco" (something similar). The goes
something like "Oh Margareita" (the words are similar but I stand corrected.
I have seen that movie a number of times and I am pretty sure.

To sum up :

Recently N-S said this in an interview :

" We knew that Anu Malik had tried "Come September" tune in Baazi. But
that was a lifting. While what we did for "Raja" was just an inspiration.
And that too we did just to show that whatever he can do, we can do
better !! "

I had a chance to watch this movie last weekend. In fact, the movie itself
is a copy of an english movie (almost frame by frame - dialogue by dialogue).
The english movie is "Kramer Vs Kramer" (Dustin Hoffman - some late '60s
movie). This movie was a big hit and a great movie to watch. If you like
serious kind of movies, then, this is one of those movies you must watch.
(I'm talking about the english movie :)). Akele Hum Akele Tum is not that
bad either. This is a very decent (no obscenities at all), family oriented
movie!! I heard that this movie is a flop??! Is that true??

I was in Bombay last month and apparantly this movie is a flop. I thought
it wasn't as bad as the box-office results showed. However, it wasn't as
good as Kramer Vs. Kramer.

yes unfortunately. Because the story line was unconventional - an indian woman
leaving her married home in search of a career and personal satsifaction; but
you all have to admit this was one of Aamir's best roles yet and it proves him
to be a versatile actor

I recently saw AKAT over winter break, and only had good remarks to say
about it afterwards. This movie kept my interest throughout the entire film.
Aamir and Manisha did a wonderful job portraying their characters. I hope
people won't be discouraged to see the flick since many have labled it a
flop.
