True, the Anil-Sri pairing have had hits together in the past (plus they make a
great on-screen pair),
but I wonder if Sri's marriage will affect the audience's perception of her
relationship with her hero....
Oh, BTW, another unfounded rumour was that Boney (the producer of the film,
natch) was looking
for a second hero to fill in the triangle..apparently Sunny Deol's name was
bandied about, but I have no idea
whether this is remotely true...

she *will* be returning to our screens in the near future, and her co-star will
be none other than Anil Kapoor.>>
Yes, I have heard the same thing. I think she will be coming in a movie that
stars Anil opposite him. When will the production of this movie begin? Do you
know any other details.
<<I am just wondering whether indian audiences will accept this real-life
"bhabhi-devar" combo as lovers in reel-life.>>
I don't know about that, but I hope that will not affect their professional
careers. After all, work is work.

Again, I certainly hope it will not affect her. But I have heard that this
movie will be quite different. Sridevi will not do jhatak dance numbers
anymore. From what I have heard, I think it will be an offbeat subject
something similar (but not identical of course) to Lamhe, Laadla, Judaai. You
get the picture, right? Something really good !

I loved the Anil-Sri-Sunny pair in Ram Avtar. They did a wonderful job
together. So, if this is true, it might be successful. I am anxiously waiting
for her upcoming movies. All of them will be really good. Best of luck to
Sridevi !

do you ever wonder if the film artists ever read our stuff? Just a thought.

Now do you understand why I mocked Muqudar when he claimed that Juhi is a
better actress than Kajol and Madhuri.

Well, this is nothing new. Shashi Kapoor used to pair up a lot with Babita who
is his nephew's(well, brother's son's actually) wife (or ex since they no longer
live together or so i heard).Even Rishi was to pair up with Karisma but i guess
the movie was shelved. I am sure there are other instances of this sort of
inside-the-family pairing too.

I think Sridevi stopped doing "Jhatak" numbers as you put it immediately after
the end of her hit pairing with Jumping Jeetu in those Mega-Masala Telugu
remakes way back in the mid 80s. After that, her numbers were more of good
dances than latka-jhatkas.(i guess the baton got passed over to Karisma not to
forget the ever jhatkofying Dixie :-) .

The only thing worth remembering about Ram Avtar, IMO, was the song "Ungli Mein
Angootti Angootti mein nagina".Atleast, thats the only thing i remember about
that film.

Can you please tell me the reason for keeping a nickie like Muqudar, atleast via
email ?? :)
Shridhar
Ravi(laughing),
How is the above statement even remotely related to what i said ? AFAIK, both
the three ;) Juhi, Kajol and Madhuri are commercial actresses whereas SLPMR is
totally on a different plane than Judai and Laadla.
Shridhar
"Wasn't Ram Avtar the same movie in which Shakti Kapoor plays the role of a
tamilian, speaking atrocious hindi with smattering of tamil. We are suppose
to believe that it is comedy. Really pathetic.
Ravi Krishna.
"
You are totally an idiot, what does this have to do with Sridevi and her
returning to the big screen? You totally avoided Shridhar's question. You
need to just chill out ! No one was talking about Shakti Kapoor's role in the
movie Ram Avtar.

If i remember right, both Laadla and Judaai were remakes of Telugu Hits.
Laadla was GharanaMogudu in telugu featuring Chiranjeevi, which was one of his
big hits; (it was alson remade in Tamil) ; Judaai was a remake of
SVKrishnaReddy's movie (which incidentally was a indianised copy of
a popular English movie featuring Robertredford,; forgot the name).
This has nothing to do with the subject, but the funny thing is
in the telugu version of Laadla the hero dominated the plot, whereas
Sridevi seems to have stolen the limelight in the hindi remake (even though the
story and script was the same).
cheers

The Telugu version of Judaii was called "Subhalagnam". I think it starred
Jagapathi Babu, Roja and Amani.
Anand
If i am not mistaken, both Gharana Mogudu and Laadla were remakes of the Tamil
original "Mannan" starring Rajnikanth and Vijayashanti. To be noted that in both
Mannan and GM, the heroes were Superstars of their respective cinema whereas in
Hindi, it was quiet the reverse with Sridevi still in inertial mode of her
superstar years. That might be the reason for the hype surrounding her role,
otherwise i didn't see much difference in the roles of Rajni and Anil in the
respective films.

Well.. Mannan, Gharana Mogudu and Laadla are remakes of the Kannada original
"Anuraaga Aralithu" *ring Dr. Rajkumar, Madhavi and Geetha. The Movie itself was
based on the kannada novel by H. G. Radhadevi. Not to mention the movie was a
Big hit which led to it's Thamil remake with little modification.
