Just wondering if "seen him in person" is to add athenticity to the data
:) :)
I never thought Shatrughan Sinha was so much taller than Dharmendra. I
mean a difference so high will show, like Amitabh and Dharam's did, in
Sholay.. and Amitabh is only 1 inch taller than Shatru going by the data
here.

I think so. 'cos I too will add that I saw him at Sahar one fine day and was
mahaa-surprised at his height. He seemed quite tall! (And no, I wasn't a kid
at that time :) ). But I wonder whether he is 6 2 or not. i would have
placed him at 5 11 1/2 or so.

Shatrughan Sinha is tall!! I saw him in Delhi Airport about 4 years ago
and he was clearly visible from 50 meters away, standing tall among
migets. :)
His built does not make him look like a tall guy.
on the other hand Amitabh use to be really skinny and has long legs,
where as Shatru has long upper body. The main reason.

True. In fact if anybody has seen Kala patthar, Dostana etc you can
see there's not much difference in height between Amitabh and Shatru.
No wonder there was intense rivalry between the two :-)
The heights info has been very interesting. All the three Khans are among
the shortest ever (around 5'6"). Never heard that mentioned in the
Aamir-Shahrukh-Salman wars :-)
Dharmendra turns out to be shorter than expected.
Wondering what the heights of Saigal (he was very tall), Prithviraj
Kapoor (none of his descendants seem to be any close to his height),
Bharat Bhushan (he too must be close to 6 ft) etc was.

Well, may be as Sandeep said, he has a long upper body, and a better
built and may be that is why he doesnt look as tall. But I heard Dharam
and Shatrughan were pretty close friends and used to have some nasty
fights as well.. can't imagine a 5-8 guy fighting a 6-2 fellow.
By the way, 5-11 1/2.. you like precision, don't you? :)

Shammi Kapoor, son of P'raj Kapoor was very tall too. I think around 6ft 1
inch, the tallest actor of his time. The rest of the Kapoors are all
short.

Raj kapoor I think was about five 10 his father was definetely way above
Six feet. But his sons, Randhir and Shashi are about five 10 while
Shammi I guess close to six. Also one thing I always wondered was that
even though Dharmendra was only five 8 still he succeeded as an action
hero, in his later roles. He started out in a romantic lead and his
early movies were all serious. For example,
Shola Aur Shabnam
A movie with Sharmila in which Dharm plays as a poet, really great songs
by Manna dey . (I forgot the name of movie)
Aadmi aur Insaan (with Feroze Khan who is six feet)
He changed his style with a movie named
Phool aur paththar (he played a 'Goonda' who takes care of a plague
ridden heroine when her husband and in laws left her in house, excellent
story, great movie)
Haqiqat (Dharm as a soldier fight the Chinese in the war of 1962, great
songs, 'Ab tumhare hawale watan sathiyoN')
Aankhen (Dharm as desi Bond goes to other countries following Gangsters,
great songs and good acting)
Charas (with Hema)
Seeta aur Geeta (Sanjeev and Dharm with two Hema's, Dharm plays the role
of 'Madari', you will love his acting, the way he emote the real road
side madaris in this movie is simply amazing, no one today Akshay, Aamir,
or anybody(Except for Nana and Nasir but they are also now type casted) can
do it.
Chupke Chupke (Does this need mentioning! if you haven't seen this comedy
with Amitabh and Dharm you haven't seen the mother of all hindi/urdu
comedies, in this movie Dharm who is Botanist plays a role of a car driver
named Pyare Mohan 'Illahabadi', great acting, while Amitabh who is English
professor becomes Botanist, it is a fun riot, you got to understand HINDI
to be able to understand this movie<-- a note for southies. :))
He became successful, he was probably the most reliable actor, always
performing best, his movies, just before Rajesh era were earning great,
and )
oops! What am I saying! I was discussing height!
Have you wondered that during Amitabh era many tall actors came up! like
Vinod, Shatru, Kabir Bedi, etc.
NOW the trend is back to shorties, The Khans, Govinda (he is about five
eight or five nine), etc.
Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Akshay Kumar are probably little bit below
six. five 10 or five 11. Rajnikanth and Kamalhassan are also short both
below five 8.
Also Watch out a new movie with Amitabh and Aamir, where Aamir will
probably have to look up in the sky each time he utter a dialogue to
Amitabh, won't that be funny. :)
I liked the comedy between Lambu ji and Thingu ji in Colie Amitabh
and Rishi.

Maybe Aamir was a little shorter. I think they're both 5'6" at the
tallest, but I haven't seen them in person so I could certainly be wrong.
Also, in Maine Pyar Kiya I thought Bhagyashree looked so tall but then my
aunt told me she's only 5'1" or 5'2" at most, anyone know for sure? Also,
how tall are Kajol and Raveena? Does anyone know how tall the older
actresses were? I'm pretty sure Rekha must have been around 5'7" or so -
were Madhubala and Nargis about as tall? How about Waheeda Rehman?
