DASTAK which stars the Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen in her first Bollywood film is made on the very same lines of DARR which starred the Bollywood heartthrob Shahrukh Khan in the role of a violently obsessed lover. Newcomer Sharad Kapoor plays Sharad Sule who is brutally obsessed with the current Miss Universe (portrayed by real life ex-Miss Universe Sushmita Sen herself on screen). He is so obsessed with Sush that he starts killing her loved ones in order to get near her. This sets Sush running off her wits as she doesn't know who this merciless killer is. Enter Mukul Dev (who looks more of a drug-addict than a cop)as an honest and dedicated cop who's on the mission to nab Sush's crazed stalker. On the bright side, Mukul is also Sush's childhood sweetheart which makes it even easier for them to fall in love with each other. However, the obsessed beast is not far away and he fakes his own death in order to mislead the cops and to kidnap Sush and take her away to an isolated island in Seychelles. Like every other Bollywood film, DASTAK has the villain laying on a pool of blood but it's not the hero who takes the villain to his final destination (for a change). It's the heroine!!! Well, I give Mahesh Bhatt the credit for portraying the female protagonists in almost all of his movies as fearless and bold unlike all other gutless Hindi filmmakers.
