Veronica Hart and Candida Royalle have directed a number of films - most of
which are hated by most raincoaters. Candida Royalle's are from her Femme
production company - Hart is mostly working for VCA (she directed the first two
Ginger Lynn comeback flicks, "Torn" and "White Lightning".)
Earlier films at least allegedly directed by women are "Misdirected" (by Tori
Wells) and "Shanna's Final Fling" (by Shanna McCullough.) I'm sure there are a
number of others.

Women can't direct hot porn! Bionca did make some nice
movies but that's because she was married to the Master.

There arent' many, but you aren't totally out of luck.
Veronica Hart and Candia Royalle do the real couples porn thing.
Shane did some nice gonzo stuff.
Lizzy Borden does some very hard-core stuff for Extreme.
Jill Kelly has done some of her own stuff.
Solveig also did a couple of movies.
Chloe is shooting some stuff for Elegant Angel as well.

moment. Of course the need to compress and drive and trust are critical for
a male to void himself. It's nature not male ego. So men will naturally
notice the gentleness, but will crave more thrust and compression.

Others on this thread have already mentioned Veronica Hart and Candida
Royalle. They were major porn stars back in the 70's and early 80's,
and they both went on to produce and direct. Candida's Femme
Productions was probably the first porn production company led by a
woman. I remember reading one newspaper article on the reaction of
Femme Productions, wherein William Margold once said that he didn't
like Candida's productions. Instead, he preferred to use the term
"restrained raunch", which, quite frankly, sounds like a contradiction
of terms. :)
Anyway, back to your question:
In the 70's, Svetlana and Gail Palmer both directed porn films.
Sharon McNight, a longtime associate of The Mitchell Brothers, directed
two of their films: "The Autobiography Of A Flea" and 1986's "Behind
The Green Door: The Sequel".
Other adult stars who have also directed on occasion include: Bionca,
Eileen Welles, Carol Connors, Annie Sprinkle, Juliet ("Aunt Peg")
Anderson, Sharon Kane, Gloria Leonard, and Sharon Mitchell.
More recent examples would include: Tyffany Million, who directed (co-
directed, anyway) some of her own features through her own company,
Immaculate Productions. And Helen Duval has her production company.
Personally, I am of the "raincoater" variety. But unlike most other
"raincoater" types, I can acknowledge and accept female-directed and
produced porn. I realize that there is a market for that type of film,
and who knows, that might lead to more porn fans and customers...always
a good thing.

Over here in Europe, we have Lea Martini who did at least *one* really
excellent movie (if only I could remember its name). And Tanya Hyde - her
first couple of films for Pirate (a Private company) were really hot, artsy
fetish productions. Her latest don't live up to the standard, though.
Interestingly, those two women directors both make episode flicks - no plot
and pretty rough sex.

I ask only because the name is a piss-poor pun in an England renowned
as the home of Corporal Punishment-style fetishism, and AFAICR the

If you're thinking about _Planet Sex[xx]_ then Antonio Adamo (the
cinematographer) should get most of the credit. The film is entirely in his
style. Other videos directed by Rinaldi tend to be bland.

She certainly isn't Frank Thring -- when he tries to emulate her style, he's
terrible! As for Tanya being a woman... She *does* tend to be absent from
Private's behind the scenes reports, but I think she's the same 'Tanya Hyde' as
the porn actress who made a few vids a four years ago or so.

I've read (in some issue of Private or Pirate) that Tanya Hyde is actually
Pirate Magazine photographer Trevor Watson, and is reputedly male.
