Well, the subject pretty much says it all. Besides ALIEN ("In
space...scream"), I liked the one for THE TWO JAKES ("They say money
makes the world go 'round. But sex was invented before money." g!)
It's surprising how many unsuccessful movies actually had fairly
interesting copy lines.

I don't think Alien was an unsuccessful movie; IIRC it did quite well at the
box office.

"The likelihood of one individual being correct increases in a direct
proportion to the intensity with which others try to prove him wrong"
James Mason from the movie "Heaven Can Wait".

My favs are the ones that has a play on words:

TERMINATOR 2: "This time, he's here for GOOD."

PREDATOR 2: "He's in town with a few days to kill."

I'm old enough to remember a pre-release copy line for THE OMEN:
"Good morning. You are one day closer to the end of the world."

Obviously, Cheryl meant THE TWO JAKES-which, to my mind, had a trailer that was
more interesting and watchable than the actual film.

I should have transitioned that sentence with a
"relatedly"--sorry--g!

> "They're young. They're in love. They kill people"

Yep. That summed up not only the movie, but the basic
anti-studio-pieties attitude of the 60's.

Ghost World's has always been a favorite of mine.

It certainly was a lot more concise and to the point--g! Shoot,
that's another thread--Trailers That Pretty Much _Were_ The Movie.

I've always liked the tag line for Wayne's World: "You'll laugh.
You'll cry. You'll hurl."

I just saw MATINEE last night, and the tag line for the horror
movie-within-the-movie (MANT) was an old-school hoot. "Half man.
Half Ant. All horror!"
