I have yet to see any comment on the use of the
characters from "A Bug's Life" as Oscar presenters.
I got a big kick out of it, and thought it was
very well done, and clever. For example, Flik
saying "they chose us to present the Oscar for
best animated short because we're animated, and,
well, short..." They even managed to make an allusion
to James Cameron's performance at last year's Oscars
without being snide about it.

The technical aspects of pulling off an animated
presentation were impressive as well -- clearly, they
had to have at least one of the voice talents live
backstage to announce the winner in synch with the
pre-made animation, because the winner couldn't have
been known prior to the moment of the broadcast.

Very nicely done.

Actually, since Heimlich had crawled into the envelope, they
didn't have to synch the mouth, and probably just pre-recorded
the voice actor saying all the nominees. Then someone offstage
just had to open the envelope & get the right recording played.
