I have no idea! I presume Lefty's son died of a drug overdose.
: 3)What happened to Lefty?
In the movie, Lefty was "sent for". Remember the beginning of
the movie when Lefty talks about being "sent for"? (Recall the
line that went something like this: "You go in alive. You come out
dead. And the person that whacks ya is your own best friend.")
Basically, Lefty was sent for because he vouched for Brasco, and the
mafia later finds out that Brasco is an undercover FBI agent. So for
Lefty's mistake, he gets killed. Remember Lefty's line to his wife
after his phone call from his boss? He basically tells his wife not
to expect him to comeback, he even removes all his personal
belongings. He knows he'll die. He tells his wife, "If Brasco calls,
... tell him if it had to be someone, I'm glad it was him."
Al Pacino's character was actually an amalgamation of two real life
characters, Ruggiero and Dominick Napolitano, aka ("Sonny Black").
Lefty survives, but Napolitano is killed by the mob in real life.
This comes from a previous post detailing a real-life interview with
Joe Pistone (The undercover cop, Donnie Brasco).
My question is this:
Why did the FBI come into the mob's nest, place pictures of Donnie
Brasco on the table and reveal his identity? With all the back
stabbing that was going on, I thought maybe the FBI director was
corrupt! After thinking about it more carefully, I thought the FBI
went to Sonny (Michael Madsen) because they wanted him to confess and
save everyone the trouble of litigation or perhaps have him confess
and maybe he'd get a lighter sentence, or cooperate with the FBI to
bring down other mobsters.
But, why didn't they just come out and say that? Anyone have a better
reason?
Thanks.

I think you're right, but we were supposed to get the impression that
the FBI wanted to alert them not only to let them know how deeply they
were trapped, but because they knew that the family would kill several
people, saving them the trouble of prosecution. You could read that
result on Lefty's face right away, even before his "putting things away"
scene.

Probably lived. It doesn't matter.

Snagged by the FBI if Donnie had it with him when busted, otherwise a
slight chance that he still had it. Unlikely thought or he wouldn't have
been so poignantly disturbed by his $500 "bonus".

duh.
If you can't figure that out.. forget about it!

Huh? Didn't Michael Madsen play a "Sonny Black"?. If that is the real life
Napolitano, who would have killed him? The "SB" portrayed in the film
seemed to have eliminated the burden of personal accountability. Maybe Pacino
played a composite of Lefty and "SB" while Madsen played a composite of "SB"
and someone higher up on the chain. Or maybe I should just fuhgetaboutit.
Napolitano was just a capo who was whacked after he was summoned to a
meeting of mob bosses. While Ruggerio may have initially opened the
door to Brasco it was Sonny who had befriended Brasco, moved him up and
involved him in operations that exposed Mob business to the Feds. For
that he buried with his hands cut off as a sign that he violated Mafia
security. Lefty was lucky. He only got 20 years in the pen.

Pistone explains this in his book. He said that FBI agents working
"straight up" will occasionally drop in on mob guys like Sonny to let
them know they're watching them and are available to them in case they
ever get jammed up and would like to make a deal. In this case the
Feds sent their Agent Fencl since Sonny considered him a up and up guy
who would be straight with him. Fencl simply said that Brasco was a
FBI plant and it was automatically understood that they were offering
Sonny a deal. But to say so outright would have been insulting to
Sonny since they wanted his willing cooperation in building cases
against the main bosses.

How did Sonny find out about the night club (the King's Court?)?
Lefty thought Donnie had gone behind his back, but then we
find out that Donnie is surprised by this too. What did I miss?
Second, in real life, Lefty actually survived, though Sonny Black got
whacked. Newell and Attanasio were taking a bit of dramatic license here;
I doubt watching Madsen remove all his posessions would've had quite the
same impact.

"I did have a test today. That wasn't bullshit. It's on European
socialism. I mean, really, what's the point? I'm not European, I don't
plan on being European, so who gives a crap if they're socialist? They
could be fascist anarchists - that still wouldn't change the fact that I
don't own a car. Not that I condone fascism, or any ism for that matter.
Isms in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an ism - he
should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon: 'I don't believe in
Beatles - I just believe in me'." A good point there. Of course, he was
the Walrus. I could be the Walrus - I'd still have to bum rides off of
people."

May I add, what happened to the lion?
3) He was killed by his cohorts. The shot on the rifle range was
meant to be understood as representing the shot that killed Lefty.
2) I like to think that our hero kept it, but he must not have in real
life, because if he had he would not have told anyone and it would not
have made it into the movie.
Which leads me to the analogous speculation about what else happened
in real life which he never told anyone about because it would have
incriminated him.
