Peacemaker and Night Vision Goggles?

I can't believe that no one has mentioned the night vision goggles GLOW
BRIGHTLY. Or did I miss the posts? Or did I slip to an alternate earth
where absolulutely no one in the soviet military noticed this glaring
design defect. Wait..it makes sense now that four missiles were locked on
three choppers, one blown up, and everyone flies away whistling a happy
tune..yeah..a train engineer can drive another train close by the heavily
guarded nuke train so preciesly that a little bridge can be built for
several minutes..a car chase that takes place precisely in the three
square blocks of Vienna preserved to look like a 19th century turist
plaza..an alternate world where a GERMANIC country has NO police...In my
universe N. Kidman is a really hot looking aussie actress from the movie
DEAD CALM, a tape which I wore out (or at least wore out one particular
scene)..but in this one she has become Mrs.
My-husband-is-the-only-actor-in-history-to-make-5-consecutive-$100m-movies-so-I=get-whatever-part-I-want?
Help me out here, folks..what other signs are ther Peacemaker is from an
alternate univers?

This one I can buy- he wasn't exactly a "driver," since he was there off
the record, and supposedly had nobody he could trust.

Well, aside from wondering where you got the "dopey" part, they just had
the woman on TV that they based the Kidman character on (an American).
The real woman is a curly-haired brunette, and I think she's actually
*more* attractive than Kidman...

...calling for help most of the time, trying to get a squad in to help
defuse the bomb.

With things as they are in Russia right now, this is probably the most
accurate part of the movie. Except for the large numbers of armed guards
around the nukes. Supposedly, in many parts of the former USSR, the
security on the nukes is lower than the amount you'd find around your
average Wal-Mart.

This was one of the atypical scenes that helped to redeem this movie
for me. I suppose you like the typical Hollywood thing better where
the person who is not a soldier or cop or other "profession of arms"
type person picks a gun for the first time and turns into
Annie-Fuckin'-Oakley?
