There is a poem in the movie FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL and it is by
W.H. Auden. I don't know the title.

I have tried to find this poem (unsuccessfully) at the bookstore and
library. I don't know the title or how it starts. Can anyone help me?
Can someone post the poem or give me the title?

Thanks!
Alex

The title of the poem is Funeral Blues. it was reprinted as a promo
for the movie along with 9 other poems entitled Tell me the Truth About
Love. Since I'm such a big Auden fan and the little book is way too
expensive i'm posting the poem. Enjoy!

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let the aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now:put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

1 luv,
james

It starts "Stop all the clocks..." A poetry dictionary index listed by
first line should lead you to it.
