I can't remember the 'S' part, but the rest was "QUantum Interference Device",
I believe.
Superconducting QUantum Interference Device.

I believe it stands for Super Conducting Quantum Interference Device. I
also think it is spelled SCQUID; not SQUID.

=Went to see the movie this weekend, but I can't remember what
=the letters in SQUID stand for....any input?
In the movie, it stands for Superconducting QUantum Interference Device.
There is, however, a theoretically possible (I'm not sure it's actually
existant) technology called a SUperconducting QUantum Interference *Detector*.
This SQUID is used for things liked detecting residual magnetic fields from
erased media to reconstruct lost (or destroyed) data.

Yeah, it's Superconducting QUantum Interference Device. They actually exist -
and are used for detecting tiny fluctuations in electromagnetic fields. You can't
use them to record memories, though...
William Gibson mentions one in the short story Johnny Mnemonic - a cybernetic
dolphin uses one to read a file in Johnny's head. Don't know if it made it into the film.
