Annoyed that AUSSIE accents dubbed in BABE

bit actors and Magda Szurbankski in BABE? Was Errol Flynn's accent
a 1930',s cultured australian accent that bad?--

I have no answer, but only the first "Mad Max" film was dubbed. The
other two were not (or if they were, it was by someone who sounded just
like Mel Gibson).
Of course, in BABE almost all the voices were dubbed. :-) :-)

From what I understand, this was not the case in Babe. I've read
that the actors were attempting some accent (perhaps american) and failed
miserably, sounding like they wer changing accents halfway through each
scene. so they fixed it in post. End of story.
I dunno about Mad Max, etc. I do know that americans at least
find titilation in accents, and wouldn't think changing the words would
be a good idea, unless it was a film done for a mass american audience,
and the accents are so thick that typical americans can't understand what
the actors are saying, whether english as a second language or Brittish,
maybe even australian.

I'm an Australian but I'd have to admit that Australian accents are pretty horrible. I have a few
American friends who have watched UNdubbed Aussie movies and they have had a lot of trouble
understanding what we say alot of the time. Movie goers wont go and see a movie if the accents
annoy them. For example, I could never watch a New Zealand film all the way through, because
their accents are terrible!

I understood that Babe was not dubbed -- that is was originally made
with American voices. What evidence is there for an Australian version
that was dubbed for the American market?

specific to any particular location, but instead was a collage of
"everyfarmhouse" and "everyfarm" and "everyfair". It's not an "Australian
film". It's a fantasy... the place doesn't really exist.

Aussie or Kiwi (or Boer, for that matter) accents.
Slang or other words words used in new and wonderful ways may be
another thing, but even then...
