I've always believed Chloe Sevigny, looked like she was coked out of her
mind every time I've seen her, and this just cements that apparently she
was.

And Vincent Gallo always looks like he needs a good bath, which I'm sure
made Chloe's job that much worse.

From a Reuters story: 'Gallo, sitting with co-star Chloe Sevigny at a
packed news conference, said of their sex scene together that leaves
nothing to the imagination: "We were very private in the room. We had
the camera on remote." '
I wonder why privacy mattered considering they were going to show the
film to countless millions?

Here's Roger Eberts description of the film.

This is fucking great!!! I hope it becomes a trend. I would love to see
someone like Cameron Diaz sucking cock on screen because it has become
something that she has to agree to do because every other actress in
Hollywood is doing it. Keep moving that bar lower! He he he! I love it!

Ho hum. Already been done in The Thin Man Goes Home.

Won't happen. Studios won't spend the money to make NC-17 movies with
$10 million a picture stars. People who hang out with Vincent Gallo,
however...

That's a good point. I always thought the same about people who go
nuts over tit shots in movies. There is no shortage of tit shots in
XXX!
Alternately, maybe Gallo just filmed his casting-couch sessions?

John,
In your opinion, do you honestly think this scene will ever be
included "as is" (i.e. not digitally shcnged/obscured) in either the
American theatrical release of this movie or even in a region 1 DVD? I
can't see this scene staying intact in this movie except as a
European-only theatrical release version. Agreed?

Romance had explicit sex and it's available in an R-rated R1 DVD, which you can
rent at Blockbuster (if you want to punish yourself), and an unrated DVD (not
sure about the status of Intimacy or Baise Moi though) but if The Brown Bunny
is as bad as everyone says it is, it might flat out not get released in the US,
like that Johnny Depp movie about snuff films from a few years back. No doubt
the scene'll be available online, probably in a day or two, if it's not
already.
Most R movies have stories that are so boring the producer cannot maintain
interest long enough to complete the project, unless there's a sex scene or
three.
Regards,
John
I think it's the idea that they are seeing Cameron Diaz's breasts...or
Charlize Theron's or Salma Hayek's or whoever's, and yes, it is partly
because these actresses are held in high regard, more than a little
untouchable, and this appeals more to the voyeuristic tendencies. I think
adult film stars are viewed as cheap and easy anyway since all they do is
get down for money. Aren't they mostly interchangeable? Plus they leave
nothing to the imagination, whereas if you see a little of Cameron Diaz, you
have ample fuel for fantasy.
MJF
How's your crotch looking these days?
And the other much-awaited trend is an A-list actor going down on a woman in a film!
This may or may not be of interest to anyone, but "Gallo" means "cock"
in Spanish (I wonder whether his close friends and intimacy partners
might call him "Vinnie"). I don't know whether Sevigny (sp?) means
anything in French.
Cheersm,
Jaime
> Much less with their face buried in his crotch. Gah.
She's used to Harmony Korine.
Brian
It would be financial suicide since virtually none of the big
screen companies would allow the distribution.
-Rich
Yet another guy who looks like he doesn't bathe.
MJF
There's no reason it couldn't be, if they don't mind taking the NC-17
or releasing the film unrated. Of course, you're assuming that it will
have a theatrical release.
And if they do obscure things with dots, just order the DVD from
Canada.
There's any number of movies released with explicit footage in them,
though they're generally foreign, like Baise-Moi and Romance.
John Harkness
"Brown Bunny: for people too chicken to rent porn."
I think that's the slogan for "Girls Gone Wild" as well.
-Jay
The Canadian DVD of Eyes Wide Shut was still obscured. One
might have to go 'out of region' to get an unedited version.
-Jay

Nope. Here in Ann Arbor, we have two independent theaters that
have shown unedited cuts of "Romance", "Center of the World", and other
"arty" films with explicit penetration, and there are plenty more such
theaters in other cities. I don't think it'd play in the multiplexes,
but there have been thousands of American releases that didn't -- yet
still made money.

At least this minimizes exposure to the rest of him. At any rate,
latest reports have it that Gallo (i.e, "cock" in Spanish) is
apologizing profusely all over Cannes for getting a fellatio on-screen
from Chloe.
This convinces me that Gallo is a waste of DNA, a deficient strain
which was sadly overlooked by the evolutionary process. What a waste
of a potentially fellatio!
As for Chloe, with hindsight, perhaps this will be slightly
detrimental to her career --not because of the act itself, but because
it involved Gallo, and then he recanted and whined about it, making
her look bad. She should have picked a far worthier penis --like my
own. Too late for that. At any rate, she was true to her good
Catholic girl nature and only put it inside her mouth --on screen, at
least. It is not fair that she should be penalized. It is Gallo, who
should be getting the big chunk of cock --career wise.
Cheers,
Jaime

the locks, they are always locking three.

Remove "bination" to reply.
Major studio release, though, which isn't even in the same ballyard.
relevant comparison would be Storytelling.

> I've heard of Vincent Gallo before, but I wasn't familiar with his films. Is
> he known as a director who is controversial, self-indulgent, pretentious, etc.
> or is this a surprise from him?
He likes to spread his neuroses all over the screen - which sets him up for
self-indulgence charges - but he has a deadpan humor about it that I think his
critics often miss. He then gives outrageous interviews to the press, who take it
all very seriously.
His only big film before this was Buffalo 66 which Ebert seems to have liked:
http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_reviews/1998/08/080702.html
I liked it too, pretty much.
Jury's still out.

Yep. Great movie and great scene.

Now that was a feel-good movie.
You are a pedophile.
Yeah, I felt good watching that scene and then about ten minutes later too
when I got the lotion out
16 year old kids are sexual beings.

Then I think he'd get a kick out of Sevigny's first film, "Kids."

Not all are (even in today's "Sex is the be-all and end-all of your
existence" culture, I think the stats are that half of all high school
graduates are still virgins), and the world would be a better place if
none were.

Well, this thread has come full circle. Pretty damn fast too.
But we didn't even get to the movie "Kids"?
REEDING IS FUNDAMENTAL!!!!!!!!!
Only if it pops up on KAZAA or GROKSTER is there a faint chance of
seeing it in its unaltered form.
