It would be interesting if Jeff took the lead role
in a new Batman film, just for the voice.
I don't see it. Adam West has a slow, forced melodrama in his voice; he sounds
more like he got his start in radio drama. He comes across as so secure, like
he has everything under control. He's Batman; he'll always be Batman.
Jeff Goldblum, on the other hand, comes across as jittery and insecure, like he
just got done drinking a couple of pots of coffee. He talks much faster and
his speech seems more like stream-of consciousness talking, like he's not
reading a script but it's coming off the top of his head.
Sometimes Goldblum will pause briefly in mid-sentance to emphasize a particular
word, but he comes across as very eccentric and intelligent. This is why he is
so often well cast as a scientist, although in interviews I've seen of his he
admits he never had an interest in science.
He comes across as a guy who never quite fits in no matter what type of
situation he is in and no matter what type of people he is around; detached,
but somewhat neurotic. He is quite unique in his on-screen personality (and
you can tell he's the same way off-screen, it is clearly not an act).
I'm a huge fan of his, and never understood why he never made the A list
despite being in a number of HUGE films like ID4 and the first two Jurassic
Park films. I guess it is because he is not a guy like Bruce Willis or Gene
Hackman that you can put in the middle of virtually any film and they would
make it work. He is an acquired taste.
To summarize, I love both of their voices. I would pay good money to sit and
listen to either of them read from the phone book. But I see no similarity in
them; in fact, they're complete opposites in the way they talk.

There is no voice as bad as the voice
of brother Goldblum .. period. I met
Adam West and dont think his voice was
nearly as hideous as Goldblum's...imo

At least Adam West can speak complete sentences.

"He said 'not' at the end of a sentence. He deserves to be injured."
I've always thought Jeff Goldblum would be a great Doctor Who if they had to
go American.
Peace!

Or can he?
I agree. It's all in the "pausing" inflections they use, and emphasizing weird
parts of the sentence. "Khan... you said... you FLED the
EarthWhy?Wereyouafraid?"
The only one who comes close to this category is Charleton Heston.

What, at the *moment*? I dunno. The last I heard of him was as a
voice talent on (I think) The Powerpuff Girls. Wasn't he Major Man?
He was definitely articulate in that part. Why, did he have a brain
injury or something? In contrast, after seeing Goldblum in Cats and
Dogs, I'm convinced he has early Alzheimer's.

He does have that eccentric scientist quality about him. Probably what they picked
up on when they cast him in The Fly and to a lesser extent, ID4.

And you know what they say, once you go American...
