You know, a few centuries ago, I would have been honor-bound to meet
you at dawn on the field of honor to seek redress for having given
Mira Sorvino's face a "2". Since we live in these less civilized
times, I'll just chide you gently on the group, here.

I find that when I'm "positively captivated" by an actress, ratings like
this particularly worthless. I am a big Sarah Jessica Parker fan. On
virtually every one of the above criteria, I would rate Greta Scacchi
superior to Parker, yet I find Parker to be much more appealing than
Scacchi. I can do this analysis comparing dozens of actresses.

I'm not trying to make some sort of political statement, but the reality
is that actresses (and women for that matter) are a lot more than the sum
of their parts.

By the way, if women want to rate me according to the "GETALIFE"
criteria, I'm fine with that, since I rate between a 20 - 22 depending on
how you rate a beat up Volvo and my gonads.

Jim,

I agree that perhaps there needs to be yet another female rating
category for "intangibles", which I agree Sarah Jessica Parker would
rate very high in. When my buddy and I originally came up with the 12
point scoring system for face, chest, legs and intangibles which we used
to rate women by, I recently modified it to change the intangibles to
acting ability for ranking actresses. Others have suggested the need
for a "butt" category, and still others have suggested that the 3 point
"acting ability" category is too low because it places too much emphasis
on physical attributes. So I added the "butt" category, by popular
demand, and increased the value of the "acting ability" score total from
3 to 8 to account for the additional "intangibles" that you can include
to rate one actress higher than another who has that certain extra
something which separates her from the others. Here's where I would
rate Sarah Jessica Parker (*) using the Modified Acrtess Scoring System
-- somewhere between Jennifer Lopez and Mira Sorvino:

F=face, C=chest, L=legs, B=butt, A=Acting Ability,
T=total score (maximum is 20)

Actress F C L B A T

Salma Hayek 3 3 3 3 6 18
Kate Winslet 3 2.5 3 2 7 17.5
Mini Driver 3 2 2.5 2.5 7 17
Jennifer Lopez 3 2 2.5 3 6 16.5
* S. J. Parker 2 2 3 3 6 16
Mira Sorvino 2 2 2.5 2.5 7 16
Sharon Stone 3 2 3 2.5 5 15.5
Anne Heche 2 1 3 3 6 15
Julia Ormond 3 3 2.5 2 4 14.5
Demi Moore 3 3 3 3 2 14
Hillary Clinton 2 1 0 1 8 12
Janet Reno 0 0 0 0 0 0

Regarding Ada's cute "GET-A-LIFE" rating system, it got me to thinking
about what specific male characteristics do women actually find the most
attractive when they compare one man to another. I would guess that the
"gonad" category would be a little hard to evaluate for most actors and
other public male figures, except for perhaps guys like Kevin Bacon, who
aren't shy about showing off their 'Wild Things' for everyone to see.

Personally I find it very attractive when a man refrains from rating women's
body parts.

I wouldn't dispute that for a second. The rating "system" was offered
as a cute, fun diversion and I took it as such. I rate every actress
and every performance on entirely subjective grounds -- as does anyone
else who bothers to pay attention -- and such a rating system really
is ultimately pretty worthless even as a rough approximation of that
thought process.

I pretty much rate actresses on their onscreen and offscreen abilty's . If an
actress can act and be personable offscreen is a big plus IMO Sarah Jessica
Parker has an Excellent personalty from what I have seen on the David
Letterman show. You can have your Meryl Streeps and the great actresses But I
find them boring.

Anne Heche is cute and sexy.
I don't consider her lesbian...
bisexual is a better word.
I first saw her on the soap opera Another World.
She was so good.
She could play sexy and innocent types.
And I am happy to see that she is doing so well
in the film industry.
She is a good actress

I am a straight, married woman in my early thirties and I think Anne
is great. She's beautiful IMO and is an excellent actress. Kind of a
sexier and more sophisticated Meg Ryan. She's got great star quality
and I think pairing her with Harrison Ford is a very smart move. I,
for one, am rushing to see this film (as I like them both...hope David
Schwimmer doesn't get too many scenes though...I think his is an ugly
geek).

I would love to see more of Anne Heche and less of the dogs that can't
act (like Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker - UGLY!) and the
stupid bimbos with fake tits and even worse acting ability (Jennifer
Love Hewitt - best example!).

Anne's sexuality is a non-issue with me, and I think most movie-goers
will agree. It's the media that's making too much of this. Big deal!

Pigcop,

Since you started this discussion, can you make a list for us of the
names of actresses whom you *do* consider to be attractive, so that we
may have a standard of reference with which to compare the qualities of
Anne Heche? Or, if you can't think of any who meet your apparently high
criteria of beauty, could you list some characteristics or traits which
you personally *do* find attractive in women?

Jennifer Lopez is a great choice, Pigcop, but my favorite is Salma
Hayek! I have a little system that I use for ranking my favorite
actresses in terms of physical beauty and acting ability. I assign a
score of 0 to 3 for face, chest, legs, and acting ability, for a total
possible score of 12. Here are a few examples using my scoring system:

F=face, C=chest, L=legs, A=Acting Ability, T=total score

Actress F C L A T

Salma Hayek 3 3 3 2 11
Julia Ormond 3 3 2.5 2 10.5
Mira Sorvino 2 2 2.5 3 9.5
Jennifer Lopez 2.5 2 2.5 2 9
Anne Heche 2 1 3 2.5 8.5
Hillary Clinton 2 1 0 3 6

Anyway, you get the idea. Just my semi-scientific, subjective opinion.
It's kind of a fun way to rank my favorite actresses. Girls probably

Meg Ryan 2.5 2 3 2 9.5
Greta Scacchi ====== Perfect 12 ======

G: gonads
E: elbows
T: tan

A: automobile

L: lips
I: income
F: feet
E: ears

Each quality to be rated on a scale of 1 to 10.

Linda,

Maybe we should modify the system to give acting
ability a higher total score. How about increasing
the acting total from 3 to say 8. There has also
been suggestions about adding another scoring
category for butts. However, I usually include
butt scoring in the 'legs' category myself. But
due to popular demand, I see nothing wrong with
adding this important physical characteristic to
the scoring system. Here are some examples of
the scores for a few actresses using this modified
system, including scores proposed by "Pigcop"
for some of his favorites too:

The modified actress scoring system (MASS) includes
a score of 0 to 3 for face, chest, legs, and butt
with acting ability ranging from 0 to 8, for a total
possible score of 20. Here are a few examples using
this proposed new modified actress scoring system:

F=face, C=chest, L=legs, B=butt, A=Acting Ability,
T=total score (maximum is 20)

Actress F C L B A T

Salma Hayek 3 3 3 3 6 18

Kate Winslet 3 2.5 3 2 7 17.5
Mini Driver 3 2 2.5 2.5 7 17
Jennifer Lopez 3 2 2.5 3 6 16.5

Mira Sorvino 2 2 2.5 2.5 7 16
Sharon Stone 3 2 3 2.5 5 15.5

Anne Heche 2 1 3 3 6 15
Julia Ormond 3 3 2.5 2 4 14.5
Demi Moore 3 3 3 3 2 14

Hillary Clinton 2 1 0 1 8 12

Janet Reno 0 0 0 0 0 0

Note that this Modified Actress Scoring System (MASS)
gives a little more weight to acting ability.
Hopefully this will provide a much more 'scientific'
method for ranking our favorite actresses which
includes all the most important female characteristics. :-)
