Did she die in the path that took her with James? I saw her flatline in the
hospital as he was talking to her and I was crushed. Was that it? I'll admit
the alternate ending was uplifting but I have mixed, melancholy feels after
seeing it. I did enjoy it immensely, though.
Please e-mail.
Personally I didn't like it either, but she died in the path with James. In the
other path, the film suggests that she will get together with James - so that's
supposed to kinda make up for it.

Yup, she kicked the bucket. (unless her character is in a sequel to
Flat liners ;)
Right. It appeared to me that the argument being made was that 2 people
meant for each other would eventually find each other in any series of
alternate universes. Even though her life was much worse in the world
where she didn't catch her husband cheating until she was pregnant,
the indication I received was that there were the same happy days ahead
for her in this world where she had the newness of their love to look forward
to. I think the flatline in the other reality certainly indicated her death. Just
my .02.

Not that I loved the movie or something (it's very so-so-ish), but from
another point of view it might not be as contrived and mean spirited as you
say. The parallel story can be seen as an alternate reality, not the current
reality, showing how things could turn out bad even though they seem to be
running along pretty well. On the other hand, things might be going very bad
but then it seems that they will change for the best. This is the story that
ends the film. So, it's very uplifting.
