I'm an avid MTV viewer, therefore I see the commercial for JOE'S
APARTMENT every fifteen minutes. I'd just like to know, what is that
song those cockroaches are singing? I've never heard it before, so I
can't tell if it's a song that has already been done or if it's original
music for the movie.

All I can say is that that movie is going to be stupid. The only MTV
movie production I want to see (thus far) is BEAVIS & BUTT-HEAD DO
AMERICA. That is going to be hilarious!

I'm sure it's an original piece written for the movie. It's probably
called "funky towel", as that is what the roaches seem to sing during the
chorus.

Sounded more like "tower" to me. (Y'know, since it rhymes with "power"?)

No, it was "Funky Town". I believe it was a take on the song "Funky Town".

Now I'm sure you're a really nice person who tries hard everyday to be the
best you can be with the gifts and talents God has given you. And I myself
am one who is nver quick or hasty to criticize another person's personal
opinion. But I must stand up on this occasion and say to you directly, as
direct as this medium will allow, that I really, really, REALLY pity you.
My only hope in this cruel world of misunderstood intention is that you
were being facisious with you comments, and not actually looking forward
with anticipation to a full length feature version of two immature
domeless wonder-twits parading their celebration of mental inactivity and
sexually repressed hormone humor, prepackaged and ready to serve for the
media melted minds of a consumer bred generation. In a word this movie
will- SUCK.

Thank you for taking your valuable time to produce such a thoughtful and
unusual post. I am exceedingly amused. This is the sort of thing,
besides real quality content, that keeps me cruise'in.

^^ Two guys who TOTALLY don't get Beavis and Butthead. :)

Mike Judge is a genius! The guy deserves an honorary Phd in psychology
for B&B... Of course, these two guys now think that I'm an idiot
because I love B&B... Oh well, it had to be said, and of course I'll
discredit the opinion of anybody who doesn't get Beavis & Butthead
anyways. :)

No, it is "Funky Towel" -- the song is sung in the bathroom. A friend of
mine, Sean Altman of the fantastic a cappella group Rockapella, worked on
the music for the movie (arranging, singing a number of the cockroach
songs) and I confirmed this with him. It's an original song for the
movie.

Not only that, but it looks like they haven't watched it since the first
season when they were much worse, and weren't very funny. Now, a lot of
their humor is actually (dare I say it?) smart. The cultural references
they make are amazing. (I'm surprised I get a lot of them. Example:

BEAVIS: Is this [some sucky band]?
BUTT-HEAD: Might as well be.
BEAVIS: Marcus Welby?!

That one had me dying!)

That's not the best example. Give it another try.

I remember seeing the first Joe's Apartment short on Liquid Television ( I
think) a long time ago (couple years) in which the roaches "help" Joe out with
a date. Has anyone else ever seen this?

Rockapella???

Isn't that the a cappella group that sings really annoyingly on PBS'
"Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego?" Good Lord!

I saw it. It was very disgusting and I see that the movie is going to
replay this skit. (In the commercial, you see the cockroaches falling
out of the light fixture and into Joe's date's lap.)

That's one of the few REALLY funny things I've ever seen on MTV. The entire
short is redone as part of the mnovie.

The rap video where the rapper started each line with "Question.." so
Beavis does his own questions in an Andy Rooney voice "Question: Why do
they call it taking a dump..."

I thought of another one: their references to DELIVERANCE while watching
a Primus video. When it shiws a big close-up of Les Claypool, Butt-Head
says, "Woah! That looks like that dude from that movie DELIVERANCE!"
