The only bad thing is that he doesn't support his high school kids going to
march corps over the summer. (IE, me and a few other former and current
students...Rochester Patriots)
Strange thing is that he got all excited when he found out that SCV was staying
at our high school for Finals this year.
Very strange considence, don't you think......

BTW, don't forget that Mike Longdo marched Mello in Sky in the early 80's I
think it was
(82, 83?) before going to Cabs I believe.
I don't know if Charlie Bruen worked with the Band at his H.S.

Math there . . . .but his talent is unquestionable !
On someone else's post re: Jim Miller (Perucssion) - Jim Miller was also
Percussion Arranger and Instructor for the Skyliners in 1985 I believe, and
Percussion Arranger/Consultant for Lehigh Valley Chieftains for a number of
years in the 90's.

In the early 90's, at one point Rochester Crusaders had 14 band directors
performing IN the line... not counting staff... we had more band directors
than we did high school students... some were long time corps people, but
several just wanted the drum corps experience...

Hi Tom.. Yes, I am now aware of the large number of Drum Corps people who are
involved in Bands and Being Band Directors... The main point of my starting
this thread was to recognize, learn and even give them some well deserved
credit through having their names mentioned by our Drum Corps Family and
Friends. As soon as I get finished up with this Christmas Fun... YIKES!!! if
Ever, I plan to putting these post together in a neat list.
Merry Christmas to All and soon a good night!!!

Heck, right now the Phantom Regiment staff has seven band directors -- junior
high school, high school and college level -- that I can think of (there are
probably more). I'm sure many, many drum corps have plenty of band directors on
staff and who marched with corps.

You may be correct. I do know that they were going to dedicate the auditorium
at Bergenfield HS to the late Dr. Baggs.
Larry "G"
Larry,
Yes, Dr Baggs was indeed Bergenfield's band director through the 50's.
At some point he moved to administration and became principal at the Roy
Brown Middle School in Bergenfield.
Don Angelica also moved up into admin from the band director slot as the
district's personnel director.
Frank Levy, Don's asst horn instructor in Garfield during the 1972
season, was the orchestra director in the district. He later became band
director as well, a position he held for a lot of years, through the
80's, at any rate.
