Christopher was (I believe, please excuse me if I'm wrong) 11 years old.
Details of his death are to remain private at the request of the family.
The Fabrizios and Coonans have been involved in the drum corps activity for
many years with such corps as the Cadets of Greece, Rochester Crusaders, and
Empire Statesmen.
Drum corps fans from all over are probably familar with Christopher's
Grandfather, Alfred "Corky" Fabrizio, the legendary Brass Arranger and Musical
Director, and Drum Corps Hall of Famer.
After the pain and loss endured this past summer by another three generation
Rochester drum corps family, the Martins, let me ask all involved in this sport
to give thanks for the friendships created through our involvement in drum
corps.
On behalf of the entire Allen family, we would like to offer our most heartfelt
condolences to the Coonan and Fabrizio families.
Our thoughts and prayers with you.

I can't even begin to express my heartfelt condolences to you both. My thoughts
and prayers are with you as well.

Fabrizio... is a name I know so well from from my corps/band days of the
70's & 80's. Corky remains one of the few judges I can clearly recall by
name from that time.
In 1978, I marched as Drum Major of the Baldwinsville High School Marching
Band. Perhaps our first show of the season was at the Onondaga Park Field
in Liverpool, NY. Corky Fabrizio, judging General Effect, was in the press
box. It was a particularly low box at the venerable old stadium along
Route 57.
As a teenaged drum major, full of vigor and vim; I saluted the crowd at the
end of our show. But, I took it one step further. I pulled my hat, a
gaucho-styled flat-brimmed number from my head. With great flourish, I
heaved the hat towards the crowd.
Fate, and a freakish wind, caught my hat. It flew like a Frisbee. No. It
flew flight a missle. My hat lofted above the crowd and towards an
unintended target.
My flat-brimmed black hat sailed right into the judges box and knocked-over
Corky Fabrizio's coffee onto his clipboard. The errant hat then fell back
down into the upper stands. Corky, ever a good sport, leaned from the box
window and demanded the hat be handed back.
Corky wore my hat for the rest of the show.
And, I'll never forget listening to those judging tapes, which including
the expletive-laden spilling of hot coffee onto Fabrizio's fresh judging
sheets.
Thank you for the memories... You have given much to my life.
I am so sorry that your family has suffered this loss. May God guide you,
as the Coonan / Fabrizio family marches on.--

We are relatives in the area and I'd like to pass the info on to them - so they
could watch it and just maybe catch a glimpse of their cute nephew as they
makes his way across the field.
Thanks in advance.
