I know that back in the day, corps had "signature" songs... Like Boston playing
Conquest year after year... But what song has been played the most time by the
most corps...???

My guess would have to be "Battle Hymn".

At one time .....1984-85??? Drum Corps World published a list of the 20 or so
most played songs and West Side Story was at the top of the list.

The theme from "Rocky".....almost drove me crazy! <smile>. Theme from "Star
Wars" also. Seems like every corps from little beginners to seniors played
it. <smile>

In article <20010609194625...@ng-mn1.aol.com>, DannyBD00 says...

Here's everything played at least 20 times (juniors only) as recorded in
corpsreps. In the case of a play (such as WSS) the counts mean that a corps
played at least one selection. If a corps played a medley or based their whole
show on the play, that would still be one count.

So for those who said WSS or Battle Hymn, looks like you were right.

Theme from SWAT in 1976. Every other corps in Class A played it and back then
there were tons of corps

Hi, Danny!

I don't know whether anybody has a real objective answer, but I'd like
to have a nickel for every time I played "Lord and Master" with
Archer-Epler between 1975 and 1995! And Archie must have played it
hundreds of time prior to those years!

BTW, nice to read that you're playing "spectator" a little bit! I hope
I get to see you sometime this summer!

Actually "Conquest" did not become BAC's signature song until the DCI era. Back
in "the day" they only played it for 2 seasons, 69 and 70.

If you went to shows in New England during the 60's it would have to be a toss
up between "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Climb Every Mountain".

According to Cheech and Chong, the three most played songs in the world
are:

1) Happy birthday to you

In the 60's the all-time, never-to-be-beaten record was "Hello, Dolly".
