Lawrence J. “Larry” Wilson

Lawrence J. "Larry" Wilson, 56, of Clarksburg, died 4:11 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2004)
at Adena Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Michelle Fraley
Wilson. They were married Aug. 29, 1970.

Mr. Wilson was born April 7, 1948, in Mariemont, son of Chester H. and Helen E.
Minzler Wilson of Blanchester. He graduated in 1966 from Blanchester High School.
He received a bachelor's degree in music education from Morehead State University in
1971 and a master's degree in educational administration from Xavier University in
1978.

He began his music career in his father's dance band when 15 years old. He was band
director at East Clinton. From 1988 to 2000, he was the band director at Adena Local
Schools in Frankfort. He also was the quiz bowl coach at Adena. He was assistant
director of the Ohio Lions All State Band from 1989 to 1991 and was a volunteer for
the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps in Toledo. He was a member of the Great Seal of
Ohio Band and participated in other community music events. I n addition, he was a
track and field official for Ohio. Other interests included being a member of the 63
Ohio Volunteer Civil War Re-enactment Group, Frankfort Lions Club, Frankfort Masonic
Lodge 309-Free and Accepted Masons and Blanchester American Legion Post 179. He also
had been an assistant Scoutmaster at Lees Creek.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two sons, Todd Wilson of
Cincinnati and Chad Wilson of Lexington, Ky., who currently is serving in the U.S.
Marines, Parris Island, S.C.; two sisters, Diane (J.R.) McCammon of Terre Haute,
Ind., and Melissa (William) Gorges of Milford; two brothers, Ronald Wilson of
Blanchester and Steve (Janie) Wilson of Fairfield; a nephew, Travis Gorges; a niece,
Megan Gorges; and his father-in-law, J.P. Fraley of Denton, Ky.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, 55 W.
Springfield St., Frankfort, Pastor Martin Denes officiating, with graveside services
at 2:30 p.m. at the Blanchester I.O.O.F. Cemetery, where military honors will be
accorded by the Blanchester American Legion Post 179. Visitation will be from 4 to 8
p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American
Diabetes Association.
