Wonder whatever happened to her?
Mike
like most female rudimental percussionists, she probably got fed up with being
called a chick snare drummer and decided to do something else with her
life....
Shane Walters
>Mike, your talking about Dawn.
She's the one on the end of Crossmen's '96 snareline. Throwin' down! ;-)
Jason
That girl had a snarl on her face that just said "Yeah, I'm a chick and I
can drum, SO WHAT???" :)
(/sarcasm off)
She was pretty cool though...
Matt LaFontaine
Mike, your talking about Dawn. She aged out this year with Crown dont know
what she is doing now.I spoke to her at the Clifton show and she was teaching
some hs bands but i dont know what shes up to now.

Now, all the other snares were female, too (natch), but
Chickie, as I recall, would go into indies and beat the
pants (P. I.) off guys from much bigger and better corps.
Had not the old-guard prejudice existed (as well as not
being able to join an out-of-town corps), she probably could
have played for almost any corps she wanted.

Blue Devils b corps had a female snare drummer in '97. i don't think I should
give her name out, but she was an awesome person and a great and dedicated
drummer. We also had a female bass drummer, who was awesome as well. There
are female drummers out there. . . .they're just much more rare than male
drummers.
Stef C
I also know the female snare drummer for the Blue Knights percussion ensemble.
She marched cymbals for the drum corps in '97. Blue Knights also had a female
snare drummer in the beginning of the '96 season. Unfortuneately she couldn't
finish the season with due to a hip injury caused by her harness.

Got one female snare here! I can still play, but I can't march a crab
step anymore due to an ice hockey injury!

That's not necessary, and it's not true. Dawn is an AWESOME snare player, being
one of the best in those lines she marched, and I dont think calling her a
"bitch" is very necessary, especially on here.
Jason Lowe
True , I marched with Dawn in 1991 NY Skyliners ,Her first year (i think )in
corps .She blew all of us away with her ability and got better from there.I
dont think the name calling is proper, shes a very nice person and confident is
a better word!
p.s. Dawn if you see this, you started it !!!

Hey brainiac, who do you think originated the post?
Corey Peterson

You're right. It was 1985 and she was the center snare that year.

Hey Dude,
That is MY sister your talking about!!! I really don't care for some talking
about my sister that way. I was the first one to ever play with her and I
thought It was an honor to march with her, in the Skyliners(91,94). She by far
is one of the best DRUMMERS I have ever seen, nevermind that she is a girl.
I have only one more wish left in my life, and that is to play next to MY
sister again. Just look at 94 Skyliners video at the end of the drum solo and
watch my first dream come true, Me and my sister playing side by side:-)
So in the future please watch what you say about my sister, I don't like to
bad things said about her.
Besides you most likely think that because she SMOKED you
Thank you
Tom Bowitz, brother of Dawn
Beth is a bad-ass!!! She is the one of the coolest drummers I've ever
met, male or female. If you don't think a "chick in the drumline" can
have chops, you must see Ms. Raddock chowz it up. I don't think she was
center though, she was on the end of the left side in the video I saw, I
believe it was '80. One of the best drumlines Spirit ever put out.
Anybody else have any comments or stories about Beth. This could be an
interesting thread, I think.

"Smoked" means to kick someones ass.
~Carrie~
I talk to Beth sometimes via email... she was on the left hand end of Spirit of
Atlanta's 1980 snareline. She did have some chops, for sure!

Ya, Kiwanis Kavaliers had a Female Tenor, Her name was Rieko. She
marched '96 as well. Kavaliers also had 1 girl on snare and two in the
bass line.

Not recently, but I think that there were 1 or 2 females on VK's tenor
line in 1989. Came out fairly well on the CDs if you happen to take a
listen.

The notes...

Probably the TALL one.....
Derrick Doyle
she wasn't there very long. I remember seeing her in Chattanooga, and then the
next time we saw Bluecoats, which was just a few days later they had 4
tenors(all male), and it stayed that way all season.

I marched with a female tenor player in Diplomats sometime around 82-85
Historical note: That was also the first year they --like the Guardsmen
and Muchachos-- got a set of "Vistalite" snares as a Ludwig promo. The
Ludwig "rep" then was Al LeMert, former PR drum instructor from the 60s,
and currently the founder of "Silver Fox" drum sticks.

Her name was Trish Noe, and was only 15. She was officially a quad alternate
and never marched quads for a show, but she did march a floor tom for the
closer and conducted on the front sideline. Hell of a girl...
