Again, a TENTH of a point is a "big can of whoop ass"? I can understand you're

belittles BAC's accomplishment.

Hmm....I hate to insert some intelligence into this thread, but....
If Blue Devils percussion sucks, and BAC beat the by only one
tenth, and Blue Devils will most likely finish the season ahead of them
in drums (not guaranteed, but likely), then....by your logic...doesn't BAC
percussion suck?
See, I know this is just one immature little punk, but this is the
exact reason why people were less than thrilled with BAC making the top 5
two years ago...people came out of the woodwork and started to proclaim
BAC was going to win the title...enthusiasm is great, and I love that
there is new blood in the top 12...but arrogance and conceit from a corps
that hasn't really the resume that other corps have (yet) is what makes
some people shy away from them.
And I say that with a student of mine marching this year.
Luckily, those type of posters disappeared, and there are only a
few idiots (like yourself) to make them look bad.
I for one congratulate BAC's percussion, and give a hearty "job
well done" to BD's drums as well. No doubt you will both continue to be
very good.

I would just say....congratulations to the Boston Crusaders for what
will most likely be a memorable night for their percussion section.
If Boston can beat Blue Devils again, it will be nothing compared to
the "first time".
Anyway, congratulations to the Boston Crusaders drum line. I'm sure a
caption win well deserved.

And, if I remember correctly, 27 beat Devils in drums in 80. For a
thread on DCP, I checked, and if Devs had had a great drum line that
year, they would have won by over 3 points. BD won because they had
one of the great hornlines of all time - and in spite of their
drumline.

Yes, I know...I was speaking more on the DCI bent...
One, to write the heading that you did for this thread shows your total
lack of knowledge .......if you had ever spent more than a couple of hours
in Lynn, MA, you would know that there's nothing in Lynn that you would
ever want to have an intimate relationship with. This is a city without
redeeming value and has always been known as the place to go when you wanted
an illegal tattoo or an incurable social disease. It is a well known local
fact that after a Lynn rain shower, the inevitable rainbow that occurs,
is in black and white.
To suggest that anyone would even consider a blow job in this locale,
shows your complete and utter lack of regional knowledge.
Two, for all of you who continue to ask, "what does BAC stand for?"
please listen closely...........Long before they became the darlings of
DCI, the Boston Crusaders were not the toughest Drum Corps in the
city of Boston, they were the toughest group of people in the city.
In the day when local disputes were settled not with nine millimeter but
knuckles to chin, they were the baddest of the bad.
Street gangs avoided them and even local cops even gave them a wide
berth. To suggest that BAC means "Boston Area Crusaders," is ludicrous......just
ask alumnus over 40.

Hey Marty, this is the BAC I remember meeting (nicely, of course) during our 69 tour to World Open, in Lynn, and VFW Nat's in Philly.
Corps kids have always had a difference of opinion during the heat of competition... most of us came from the streets, without the luxury of being born with a silver spoon in our mouth. Corps life was both accessible and affordable, altering forever many of our lives through it's design, structure, and discipline. Most of all *belonging* to something real.
At least we didn't settle our disputes by pulling out guns for a final solution.

Here, I 'splain it slowly.
Charlie was being criticized for putting BAC over the BD drum line. In Philly,
BAC beat them again, as well as Cadets and Glassmen.
So, even though Charlie didn't judge them in Rome, he gave a similar read in
Philly.
So, I comment that his read, as well as the other judge's read in Rome, was
legit, no cheating......... Does that help now, Spang?
Out to lunch? Only you, buddy. Follow the thread.

Not to mention, Jim. We stood for (what seemed like) hours on that HOT
parking lot, in the morning sun, along with 300 other corps, all in a
row, in full dress uni's...
... awaiting inspection. OK. Now do your *short show*.
Like we're at our best? Go figure. Despite our flaky solo sop (Tim) and
sloppy M&M, we could've done better than 28th. ;-)
Your drumline was tight! I was there. We all dug deep into our gut for
that one. But, environmental factors do come into play. We simply
couldn't hack the heat and humidity. (sorry)

LOL... had you been around during the 60's, you may have remembered a group

Not commenting on your continued bashing of MB above, but Al's initial

Of course, lately she has ended up touring as Mama Cass in "Mamas and
Papas" nostalgia concerts. About the same size as Mama Cass as well.
But you are correct about the 60's. I loved her black hair and bangs.

Just read your post...saw both teams in Philly Saturday
night...excellent performances by both drumlines...Beantown crew are
the real deal--much props to RV and his staff for writing and teaching
a terrific book, and to the kids for performing a great
program...BUT--to say that BD's line sucks is not only wrong, it just
shows how much of an idiot you really are. Scott J and his crew have
these kids playing more musically than I've seen in years past, and
they play some really off-the-wall stuff, but still manage to make it
musical.
Just to give a blanket statement like you did only shows your
ignorance to how hard every line in DCI has worked to put out a
quality product. You need to (a)respect every line that performs,
whether you like them or not, (b)realize that they are out there
busting their butts to put out a quality product, (c)although they are
competing against each other, this activity is for the kids and is
supppose to be FUN, and (d)in light of recent events in our world, you
should be cheering for every team out on that field. BTW--Everlast
once said that Karma can be a (insert 2 curse words, one starts with
"M", the other "F"); you may be marching in a line, get beat by
another team, and find out that someone on the newsgroups publicly
slams your line: after all the hard work you and your fellow brothers
and sisters have put in, how would you feel? If you tell me that it
wouldn't bother you, you're a liar on top of being an idiot.
...that's my 2 cents--you owe me 10...
> When and who with?... and I don't mean the *bando* thing with HS or College.

Well, in the late 70's there was a corps in Lafayette, IN that was called Star,
because for some reason Lafayette was called Star City, and held a Star City
Classic show in the summer. I did that group two years (we were never very
good, but I learned a lot about life and responsibility). It was a small corps,
probably 50 total.
In the spring of 1983, I audition (actually Thanksgiving, 1982) and made Phantom
Regiment. Went to all of the rehearsal weekend, and actually was set to go for
the summer. But, I had an opportunity to transfer to a better college, and the
choice was march corps or work a summer job to make up the difference in money
between the two schools. I had to drop out of Phantom so that I could go to the
new school, a decision that I have in some ways regretted, but in others was
glad because the education I got at that school was far better than the one I
got at the old school. But, it meant I missed out on the Summer of 1983 with
Phantom.
So, there you go. Aside from years at college, working with about 15 different
bands and writing arrangements for three different state champions in different
classes, I haven't done a thing in the activity.
Not a thing.
AL
I hate to bust your bubble, but I was at the Lynn show and for
whatever reason, Charlie Poole was not the judge that night even
though he was supposed to be. The judge for the night was Peter
Furnari. So, there was no BAC/"New England Grudge Master" bias that
you speak of. Also, in Semi finals, Jeff Prosperie put them over Devs
as well, so it's not just a one time deal. Sorry.
