A few awards:

Worst Band Parents: well.. there were only a few good ones. Still
saw many sit and not clap for any other bands. Kiski Area and Center
Grove had like 5 each sitting near me during the morning... they never
clapped.. That's just a few... I'm not saying the entire org. does
that. I'm just stating that several band parents did not stand up for
anyone but their kids band. In the afternoon, I saw a friend from
drum corps near Broken Arrow.. so I sat near them.. Trust me, it
feels totally awkward to be the only person in a section to be
standing up and applauding for every single band out there. The
entire section was cold... didn't stand up except at 9am when their
own band was up. sheesh... gotta love class acts.
but the whole band parent belief that "my kid's band is the only band
out there...screw the other 84" was definitely existent.

Best Band Parents: Without a doubt... Plymouth Canton EPMB. Me and
3 friends sat near a group of their parents in the afternoon AND
evening. There was not one band that was not acknowledged by this
fine group of parents. They had more respect for the activity than I
saw in an ensemble of any other fans. Each band, no matter what,
received honor from them. They were nice, thoughtful, and open minded
when i spoke to them. Nothing but total props to the PCMB band
parents assoc.

YOU NEED TO CHANGE UNIFORMS award: Kiski Area. Get rid of those
things :) loved your show... WSS rules

Best Uniforms. Center Grove. I guess Freuhoffe designed those,
right? or Miller.. Not sure.. lemmie konw.. they looked intimidating.

Best in-your-face show: Marian Catholic. No Props. They stepped out
of the box and performed the hell out of that show.

Oh yeah.. a funny story. I was visiting some friends from drum corps
up at a hotel in south indy.... and some band parents identified
themselves as being from broken arrow.

The "We are band parents! Hear us spell!" award: Center Grove,
Centerville, Bellbrook, and MANY others. I didn't know so many adults
could spell... sheesh.. thank goodness Plymouth Canton Education Park
didn't spell that one out.. that would've received a LOT of time
consumption.

Best Color Guard? C'ville and Center Grove... no arguments...
Lassiter runner up...

Phat Show: Centerville... who else

Cool Show... eerie.. but totally breath-taking... C'ville and PCMB

Please-come-up-with-a-new-aura-of-programs: Lake Park... no arguments

Worst hotel in the world: Days Inn - South Indy... No hot water, NO
DRAIN PLUG, no cable, beds weren't made, holes in wall, spoo on the
sheets (I kid you not), no counter service... HECK! don't go there.

That's all i can think of.. i'll come up w/ more later

i'll have to dispute your worst hotel award. i think the days inn east can
easliy compete with what you said about the days inn south. i have never taken
such a cold shower, even when i was still in band and staying on a gym floor
and taking showers in a locker room! we complained about the water and they
gave us a $35 discount for the two rooms we had. the scary thing is they
actually have a line item on their billing for "no hot water" i guess we're not
the only ones to experience the problem.

They're white on the top half with a grey horizontal line then the rest is
black including the pants. We have white gloves and seperate gauntlets. There
is a new CG logo on them also. The shakos are black with 4 small mirrors in
the shape of a diamond. And a black plume with silver stuff. They're cool
and worth all of the fundraising!!!!

After your performance in finals, when you were sitting in the backfield seats,
those things got annoying. Every time somebody moved or even twitched a
little, I saw a big flash of light. I really enjoyed your show this year, I
had a chance to see it on Friday and Saturday. I know some people that didn't
like it that much, but I think it was some of the best music there.

Bands who should've made semifinals in Prelim 1:

Ooltewah
Normal Community West
Nicholas County

Bands left out of finals for no apparent reason:

North Hardin
Pomona

Grand National Champions:

Lassiter
Center Grove
(tie)

Most original show:

Ooltewah

Fave Small Band (60 members or less):

Nicholas County

Best band with lowest placement in semis:

Bellbrook

Largest point discrepancy from semis to finals:

Plymouth-Canton
Center Grove
(4 or 5 points)

Biggest problem with BOA:

Too much emphasis on GE........leading to small bands having to be twice as
good as larger bands to get the same score.

WORST BAND PARENTS:
Lassiter by more of a margin than they won Nationals. I was stuck behind two
parents from Lassiter. Neither watched a single other band, before Lassiter
came on they were talking noisily during other performances, and after Lassiter
they jumped back and forth, looking at their poor kid in the Lassiter band
through binoculars. They didnt clap for other bands, I doubt they noticed
other bands even playing.
To top it off, after I heard so much about Centervilles performance, they
finally came on. Well Centerville, your music was completely awesome, and the
left hand side from the 35 to the end-zone looked great. The est of the field
and your drill was obscured by two noisy parents holding up signs that said
John and Bob, trying to get their kid's attention. To me, this seems a bit
rude, both to the people behind them who want to watch and to the band on the
field, AND to the kid who probably wants a little privacy form time to time.
Well, John and Bob, if you're out there, they are watching your every move
through binoculars right now. I feel your pain.

Best Parents: Plymouth-Canton
They clapped for everyone, talked open mindedly (they didn't consider their
band to be God to everyone elses pathetic annoyances), and were generally great
people. Good job at Nats too Plymouth, I didnt expect you to get so high but
you definitely deserved it. I hope you move up to first next year.

no doubt man. i'm from oklahoma, and i wasn't sure about PCMB until i
experienced the band parent attitudes this weekend. i posted 2
articles about it (see BAND PARENT ETIQUETTE @ NATS). they were,
without dispute, the best overall organization. yes, the latter
article did say that you may see a couple rotten apples in each
organization. but i didn't see ANY PCMB parents sitting on their
butts after every bands performance. sheesh... the people next to me
were nice as carmel apples dipped in cinnamon, i enjoyed their company
and their opinions on grand nationals and its bands.

PCMB Staff and Band Boosters: you've raised your parents well. Thank
you for setting a standard in the spirit of BOA.

I AGREE!

Lassiter parents were AWESOME! At prelims, they clapped vigorously and stood
for Fairborn (ond probably others) and talked about what a great show it was.
At semis, they did the same, and some parents even gave me and my friend
licorice drops! Lassiter parents were WONDERFUL.

And of course, Plymouth Canton parents are great too. They also stood a lot
and said nothing but nice things.

A slave girl and master fall into a forbidden love

After a bit of dancing and gratuitous sex, the master gives her his blue
underwear.

When the slave girl goes back to show her sisters, they ALL have pair of his
blue underwear!!! Uh Oh, so then they just dance with the blue underwear and
laugh at the situation.
