I think the most overplayed show is Star Wars.
All the competions I have played at have 2 bands or
more playing Star Wars. I'M tired of hearing it!!!!!!

MAN I remeber at 96 regionals in Johnson city when 5 bands did Inferno.

Trust me , different shows are popular in differnet areas.

This past fall I heard two bands play almost the exact same over-played show;

Fanfare for the Common Man
Hoedown
(one band played Billy the Kid, the other some other Copland song)
Appalachian Spring

Keeping with the over-playing spirit, one of those bands is playing the
king of over-played pieces this next fall, West Side Story.

On top of that, I think I heard Intermezzo from Carmen 2-3 times at every
shows I was at this past fall. I hate that song.

It may be boring to hear songs played more than once, but as long as the piece
is played musically and adds to the band's field program, it's fine with me.

In my oppinon, i think every year seems to have a trend with over played shows.
examples: in 95 I noticed West Side Story was quite popular. 96 was definetly
the year of The Inferno, and 97, Evita was the pick for that year. So, after
sitting through at least 3 bands play thoes per year...I'm eger to find out
what I shall add to my "Annoying over played songs" list for next season. Any
ideas?
Note: all of my oppinions are based on what I saw at BOA and local competitions
in the Dayton/Cincinati area.

here are some of the shows my school has done.. a lot of them are

This is one of the most difficult pieces ever preformed by a High school
band. This is very tough considering that the music has to be played just
like a regular concert band
To do this you must have great and outstanding players I only seen this
show played once by the National Trail Marching Band in 1994 Located in
New Paris Ohio. These guys were tough and played holst very well and
earning a superior rating at state competition >

I have seen mars alone being played so many times it aint funny.I
remeber a band did a WW2 show with swing swing swing , some other songs
snd Mars. Thats right mars!!!
It really doesnt seem like a piece for a WW2 show but hey its still a
cool piece and I love to hear it when its played right.
