I also think the PLANETS are over played, but I stll like it. Webster at
nationals did a nice job with it.

no way, I have only seen a couple bands do inferno, and I must say Ooletwah did
it so awesome that I can never see it enough
INFERNO?? I cant remember 1 band at nationals that played it, and The fire bird
is a cool piece, and PLAINFIELD HS did a good job with it this year.
How about - Anything from the Divine Comedy?

Trust me , different shows are popular in differnet areas.
This past fall I heard two bands play almost the exact same over-played show;
Fanfare for the Common Man
Hoedown
(one band played Billy the Kid, the other some other Copland song)
Appalachian Spring
Keeping with the over-playing spirit, one of those bands is playing the
king of over-played pieces this next fall, West Side Story.
On top of that, I think I heard Intermezzo from Carmen 2-3 times at every
shows I was at this past fall. I hate that song.

Written last year? I don't think so. You would have to hear it at least 30
times? Trust me, get four bands playing at the same contest and you will
change your view on that.
Jaina, you need to get out. In 88, 89, 90 and a few years after, it seemed
that over half the bands were doing those shows.
HAHAHA!! My band program played both Les Mis and Phantom in that time period!!!
I think our band has done a lot of overdone shows though.. we are starting to
move away from that now.. this year we had all new music written for us.. it
was all origion..
here are some of the shows my school has done.. a lot of them are
overplayed....
-The Devine Comedy (Inferno and Ascention)
-Stormorks
-Gettysburg
-Jurassic Park
-Robinhood
-Les Mis
-Phantom
-Swan Lake (and various other Tchykosky)
-Gershwin Show(American in Paris&others)

Oh my, you ARE young! :-)
How about Malaguena/Malaga. That gruesome twosome has to be the most
overplayed duo in history, esp Malaguena.

Jeesh!! Give her a break!! In 88, 89, and 90, she was only 6, 7, 8, years
old!!!!! I surely didn't know any shows at that age!

Judging from the posts I've seen lately, here and drum corps, Star Wars may
soon be left in the dust by Titanic, both on the field and at the box office!

I certainly agree....It seems that almost evry KY band has done Inferno, Les
Miz, Phantom

I remember that. My favorite moment of finals was hearing a judge
exclaim "ANOTHER ONE?!?" after hearing the opening "The next band in
conference 5A" announcement for only the third band that played
Appalachian Spring. Pretty funny! All I thought of was "Yep and
there's still one to come."
ben
I thought there were FIVE bands that played App. Spring at Texas 5A
finals! I believe the only ones who didn't were Winston Churchill and
Westfield.
