May not get much responce as most do not play marches anymore ;( Heck.i know
alot of band directors that never played a march eather in jr. high, high
school or college. (IMHO...sad)
As for your question...as a player...
BB & CF by Hume.
as a teacher..
Eagle Squadren by Alford.... no really a hard march.. but it has one section in
F # minor. ( that key goes over the heads of most high schoolers)

I'd say Gould's "American Salute" is one of the harder ones. Not because
it's necessarily a finger-buster (exc. some woodwind parts) but to play it
at tempo, with the right level of energy, and to make it sound really good
is, IMHO, VERY difficullt to do.

Drummer666 is my GOD!!! all hail him!!
That's a good piece... we played that in Wind Ensemble last year. We
started it off at somewhere over 140, as a guess (I don't have my metronome
handy). I'm sure I can find one of our DATs with that piece... the
performance in Bridgewater Hall in Manchester would probably be the best
one. That concert *rocked*... including the Russain vodka afterwards...
Anyway, I haven't actually played this one, but the hardest march I've ever
heard has got to be the "Country Band" March by Charles Ives. To sound that
bad and uncoordinated the right way has got to take talent. :) A good
recording of this one is the "Live in Osaka" Eastman Wind Ensemble CD
(Sony Classical SK 47198). I'm trying to convince our director to pull this
out for next semester.

My other favorite marches include:
"H.M. Jollies" by Alford
Lassus Trombone by Fillmore
Whip and Spur by Allen
British Eighth by Elliott
March "Grandioso" by Seitz
Americans We by Fillmore
National Emblem by Bagley
and of course
Stars and Strips Forever by Sousa
I've played lots of marches being in a military band, but these are my
favorites! Let me know what you think!

I hate marches, but I really REALLY like that one for some reason. (i mainly
hate marches because I play bassoon)
Give me some examples of these marches. You must not know what a real march
is. Anyone with a solid music background would know that the marches
mentioned are world class. Come on now.... even the corps type band people
can and will recognise a good march.

for baritone.<<
One I found even harder for baritone was Turlet's "Le Regiment Sambre-et-Meuse"
also known as "French National Defile'". A whole lotta lip work there. We
played it back in 1976 for the Blossom Festival parade at Niagra Falls. By the
sixth time or so, the octave intervals were more prayed than played.
