CORPS STYLE MARCHING!

After I posted the original "CORPS STYLE MARCHING" post last week, I did
some serious thinking. Perhaps what I was so perturbed with was listening to
people talk about their bands thinking that it was the same thing as a
drum corps. Or perhaps I was frustrated with the label "corps style" and
the fact that it was used so freely. I didn't really stop and think that
most people on this channel aren't nieve enough to think that their bands
WERE just like a corps. You who responded are right, in that "corps style"
is merely a phrase associated with some basic principles that distinguish
this particular style, brought about by drum and bugle corps, from a
military marching unit, like say the Aggie Band....

Thank you for your responses, it has been very interesting at this end....

: was called "corps style marching" in 1976. We were the first band (H.S. or
: college) in Utah to make the Switch. I recall that the two band directors


I just had to follow-up so that there would be three Aggie posts in a row :)
