The second annual IntroComp games are now available for download...
and to be voted on! These are workable, playable games that contain
only the beginning of a new, never-before-seen work of IF. And if
we're all lucky, someday they'll be completely developed!

You can download the games at the Interactive Fiction Archive (though
the folder it can be found in will no doubt change over the next few
days). You can also download the games through this link:
http://www.xyzzynews.com/introcomp/introcomp03.zip

There are six introductions in the competition this year. They are as
follows:

Agency, by Ricardo Signes
Harlequin Girl, by Sean M. Elliott
Harrington House, by Gayla Bassham
Ophelia, by Benjamin Fan
Reality's End, by Harry Hol
The Mage Wars: Statue, by Jim Fisher

Deadline for voting will be the end of this month, March 31, at
midnight EST (5:00 AM GMT, April 1).

IMPORTANT NOTE:
During the voting period, please refrain from posting reviews in any
public forum, so as not to taint the votes of others.

VOTING:
Voters are asked to rate games on one criterion, and one
alone: "How much do you want to play more of this entry?"

Authors and beta testers may vote their conscience, but no one may
vote more than once.

All voting will be conducted through an online form, now available at
http://www.xyzzynews.com/introcomp/

No votes will be accepted by e-mail. Please use the online form if
you want your vote to count.

PRIZES:
If you're wondering exactly what's at stake here, beyond the prestige
of winning and the adoration of the IF community and the constant
public pressure to complete a game, here is the prize list:

* Fifty dollars in COLD HARD AMERICAN CASH

* A copy of the hard-to-find (if you're not looking too hard)
Infocom Classic Text Adventure Masterpieces CD

* A signed copy of the Trivial Pursuit 20th Anniversary Edition

WINNERS:
First, second, and third place winners will be announced Saturday,
April 5, 2003, in a ceremony to be conducted with much pomp and
circumstance in the auditorium on ifMUD
(http://ifmud.port4000.com:4001/). I hope you'll be able to join us
and cheer on the winners, but if you have your priorities misaligned,
don't worry - I'll post the results here after the ceremony.

Thank you, and enjoy the games!

The waters of Usenet were once rich in posters. Then the Usenet
trawlers set their nets and devastated the population, leaving the
ecology in serious imbalance.
