First public release.

in ftp.gmd.de/incoming/if-archive

probably will move to /if-archive/programming/tads somewhere.

It's for the Mac! It requires System 7! Boris Yeltsin just recovered
consciousness!

For perfect double-clickability, you may change your game files to type
'TADG', creator 'mxTR'. Or just drag them onto the MaxTADS icon.

I haven't had any trouble running Legend, Shelby, Underoos, or a few
selected competition games. I actually played Shelby all the way through
under MaxTADS (for other reasons). No sweat.

The TADS engine is the most recent release, 2.2.1.

Please download it and give it a pounding. I'd like to use it as the
primary Mac TADS interpreter on the IF CD, but it needs plenty of testing
first.

And it looks great. I hustled over to our office's old IIcx with
MaxTADS and the old TR in hand. Probably the coolest thing about it
is that MaxTADS not only looks good, but looks just like
MaxZIP--almost like having one interpreter for TADS and Z-machine.
Hey, there's an idea. Andrew?

Anyway, next time I find myself on a Mac and yearning to play the
latest in TADSware, I'm turning to MaxZIP. And you can quote me on
that. Cardinal?

And most spiffy it is! Thanks, Andrew!

Playing TADS games under a Z-machine interpreter? I'm impressed. I knew
Mr. Plotkin was amazing, but...

Yeah, yeah, so I blew it. Seriously, though, how hard would it be to
combine the two programs into one executable that can handle both TADS
and Z-machine files?

Just hard enough that I don't want to do it. The number of little tiny
differences, deep in the program internals, is really amazing.

Sorry.

PS: MaxTADS now at /if-archive/programming/tads/executables/MaxTADS-101.hqx.
