I am hereby announcing the Italian dish Competition. The Italian dish
Competition may only be entered by authors whose surnames resemble the
names of Italian dishes. Why am I doing this?

First of all, I don't think the average Anglo-Saxon can comprehend the
pain, shame and agony of having a surname that sounds like "kooked
rice served variously with tomatos, cheese or chicken". With the help
of a competition maybe you'll understand the predicaments of my
people. Secondly, I think this group has been bullied and dominated
too long by Unedible Americans and the occasional Unspeakable Swede.
Thirdly, I believe that my people have been shoved into the
Italian-American drawer far too many times. We are more than just
Italian-Americans; we are also defined by the crosses we have to bear
every single day.

Actually, I had more trouble with my name being confused with a certain
former Yankee who does ads for a loan company. But if you're starting
up a fund or something, I'd be glad to accept your money in the way of
consolation. Better yet, just send me your bank account number and any
needed PIN, and I'll take it for you.

Every time you buy a CD, a programmer is kicked in the teeth.
Every time you buy or rent a DVD, a programmer is kicked where it counts.
Every time they kick a programmer, 1000 users are kicked too, and harder.
A proposed US law called the CBDTPA would ban the PC as we know it.
This is not a joke, not an exaggeration. This is real.

How many Italian-dish-Americans have won Oscars? How many American
presidents were Italian-dish-Americans? How many
Italian-dish-Americans have landed on the moon?

I say it's time we stand up and raise our heads in pride! Maybe when
this competition is over, I'll be able to look my son in the eyes and
exclaim "I'm proud of who I am!".

I'm not sure how to take this...

Should I be offended or write a submission?

Does having a quasi-cugino with a restaurant in D.C. qualify me?
