[Announce] ifMUD: A MUD Forever Voyaging

For those of you who haven't stopped by recently (or at all), the
IRC channel #int_fiction has been picking up lately. In an effort
to further confuse matters, I've put up a permanent environment for
hanging out, asking questions, etc.
1. GET AN ACCOUNT
Point your web browser to http://fovea.retina.net:4001/ and follow
the instructions. Your initial password will be delivered by email.
If you don't have web access, email me and I'll set an account up
for you.
2. GET ON THE SYSTEM
There are four basic ways:
1. TELNET: telnet to fovea.retina.net 4000
It's simple, but a little hard to read.
2. MUD CLIENT: Use a mud client like TinyFugue. It looks better.
3. WEB: http://fovea.retina.net:4001/ and select "Log on Now."
This is a javascript-based client. It's okay.
4. JAVA: http://fovea.retina.net/ifmud/
Be patient - it's a bit slow on start-up. Sometimes I have
problems with it.
If you've never used a MUD before, set your expectations low. I hacked
the code a bit to make it more i-f friendly, but it's primitive by
modern standards.
There's a room where users can build their own stuff, or you can just
wander about the little I've created.
I'm "gecko" but sometimes I'll be logged in as "admin." Say hi.

NOTE: This isn't the XYZZY Awards Ceremony MUD, nor is it even
the code for that (although Andrew Plotkin was kind enough to send
it to me, I had problems compiling it on my UNIX platform).
