Is there any easy way to play a gblorb game on Ubuntu 9.04? I want to
play Alabaster. I have tried to compile Nitfol 0.5. That needed glk,
so I got xglk-0411 and extracted it under 'xglk'. But now nitfol says:
Makefile:139: ../xglk/Make.xglk: No such file or directory

Should I be going down another path? I'd love graphics but will accept
text if I have to. Perhaps I should cheat and install a Windows
interpreter in Virtualbox? But if I succeed under Linux I'll try and
package this stuff.

I used Gargoyle to run Alabaster and it worked fine. You should find a
*.deb package here: http://ifiction.free.fr/index.php?id=iflinux

The site was down a bit, but then I found the .deb here:
http://ifiction.free.fr/fichiers/gargoyle_i386.deb

Thanks, it works great!

Eric: can this .deb not be uploaded to the list here:
http://code.google.com/p/garglk/downloads/list

Or perhaps you can collaborate with the people here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/301455

..to get this added to the repositories?

ngh... I can be happy of having gargoyle in the 'buntu repositories, but
I think there will be a big unix name clash between 'terps; I suggest a
bit of renaming of the various gargoyle 'terps ( a garg prefix should be
enough), so people should continue to use the various standard textual
'terps if they want.

As I have reported in past, the not few issues with gargoyle I have, in
the end I came to a sort solution involving a kludge of path search
order, binary directories and a little batch script....

Best regards from Italy,
Dott. Piergiorgio.

The interpreters are all currently in /usr/lib/games/gargoyle, with
the executable /usr/games/gargoyle executing the right interpreter
depending on the extension of the file you are trying to interpret. So
it would seem that this problem has already been solved.

Hello,

I'm happy it's working for you. I'll try to update it to the newest
gargoyle release. (should be out in 2 days)

It's supposed to be a repository for the code. The windows code is
provided so people can get it more easily. The problem with linux is if
they begin to propose a .deb, they should provide the opensuse, fedora,
mandriva, archlinux versions as well...

But maybe they could give the links to the official or semi-official
versions so people would learn about the status of them.

I don't have any knowledge with ubuntu packaging, I'm afraid. I'm only
creating a binary package for debian etch so many people should be able
to use it (on eeepc/xandros as well). My main distribution is Archlinux now.
