"Tamara" is a 2005 film about a bullied high school bookworm girl who
is killed by some of her classmates in a vicious prank gone wrong and
then returns for revenge as a demonic vixen.

I read a couple legitimate-looking sources that the film made a little
more than two hundred thousand dollars. The production values, well it
seemed to me to have those of an episode of Smallville or something,
those of a reasonably-funded successful TV show. It cost a lot more
than two hundred thousand to make, I'd say.

Jenna Dewan as the demonic vixen delivers a substantial amount of
tight-skirted eyecandy, but stops short of any nudity. There's a part
where she entrances a couple of studs who had picked on her, in a
gender-reversed version of the scene in Wild Things with Matt Dillon
and Neve Campbell and Denise Richards, and leaves them making out with
each other, which is sort of an interesting revenge, but then they're
seen fully-clothed under the covers later. In both cases, and I argue
it's emblematic of the movie generally, it aims the gun okay but
doesn't really pull the trigger. It seems to content itself as some
sort of "bubble gum horror" if that's a genre, but then there are as
well a couple really gory scenes, in each of which a character kills
himself quite messily, even somewhat disturbingly.

What else? I'd reiterate that Tamara has a strange sort of hybridized
style, it's like a TV episode about high school Z playing at horror,
before going back next week to boyfriend-stealing and seeking the
district sports championship and so forth drama. Dewan is cute and the
movie itself is generally smooth and inoffensive to the eye, but it
doesn't really connect, it doesn't make an impression. In the end it's
quite forgettable and not really worth one's time.
