FREDERIK WIEDMANN’S SCORE FOR HOSTEL: PART III TO BE RELEASED BY
VARESE SARABANDE
Green Lantern: The Animated Series Begins Airing on Cartoon Network
(March 12, 2012 - Burbank, CA) – Composer Frederik Wiedmann is proud
to announce the release of Hostel: Part III – Original Motion Picture
Soundtrack, available on Varese Sarabande. In addition, Green Lantern:
The Animated Series, which features original music by Wiedmann, began
airing on Cartoon Network this month. Wiedmann earned his first Annie
Award nomination for Green Lantern: The Animated Series.
"Freddie immediately establishes a sense of fear and horror with his
chilling orchestration,” said Hostel: Part III director Scott Spiegel.
“He has created an arresting score that seamlessly blends the
European and American aspects of the story and dramatically enhances
the overall scope of the film.”
While attending a bachelor party in Las Vegas, four friends are
enticed by two sexy escorts to join them at a private party way off
the Strip. Once there, they are horrified to find themselves the
subjects of a perverse game of torture, where members of the Elite
Hunting Club are hosting the most sadistic show in town. Hostel: Part
III was directed by Scott Spiegel from a screenplay by Michael D.
Weiss, Hostel: Part III was produced by Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss.
In addition to Hostel: Part III, Wiedmann is scoring the new Green
Lantern: The Animated Series on Cartoon Network. Based upon the DC
Comics super hero, Green Lantern: The Animated Series follows Earth’s
Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, who is used to being in dangerous
situations -- but he’s never faced anything like this! Set in the
farthest reaches of deep space, the series finds Hal on the Guardian
Frontier, where he must face down an invasion from the Red Lantern
Corps.
"The score for the Green Lantern series is a big and epic orchestral
score, filled with themes and world instruments,” said Wiedmann.
“Since most of the story takes place in space, the musical
possibilities are endless."
Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Frederik Wiedmann came to Los Angeles in
2004 to become a film composer. After three years working as an
assistant to veteran composer John Frizzell, Wiedmann scored his first
feature Return to House on Haunted Hill for Dark Castle Entertainment
(Warner Brothers) in 2007.
Since then, Wiedmann has written the music for a wide variety of
feature film and TV productions including Hostel: Part III (Sony
Pictures), Mirrors II (20th Century Fox), Hellraiser: Revelations
(Weinstein Company, Dimension Films), and The Hills Run Red (Dark
Castle Entertainment, Warner Brothers). You can also hear Wiedmann’s
musical contributions for TV shows including Moonlight (CBS), Reunion
(Fox), Frost Giant (Syfy), Triassic Attack (Syfy), and others.
Wiedmann is also teaching a music technology course in the highly
acclaimed Scoring for Motion Pictures and TV graduate program at USC,
where he is sharing is extensive knowledge of music production and
writing music for the movies.
