hi all - my friend is looking for a place online to post pics of his
oil paintings. does anyone have suggestions? he does mostly abstract
things, and is mostly interested in getting them seen & enjoyed,
though selling them would be fine as well. (we are in the U.S., in
Ohio)

thanks,
lisa

That's like asking where to dump a YOUR bucket of
sand on the beach so that everyone will notice it.
The easiest to get started with are sites that
invite uploads of pictures and don't charge a fee
to host them, EXAMPLE: - http://www.flickr.com/

I think I'm missing something... i don't understand what's so wrong
about him wanting to find a public/active place to display his art
work. it's not about posturing or outshining anyone - just trying to
find out where the online communities are that his work may find a
home with.

Hi
I don't know how or where in the united states to post pictures, but I
use a place called Piczo, you can download all sorts of stuff, you can
also find places that will help on the net,in canada we have
canadianartinfo.there is definitly going to be somewhere you can
post.alot of galleries also have websites now,so if a few pieces are
in a gallery you can set up a link to your own homepage.Alot of my
artist friends and I have links on our homepages to each other,so
anyone looking at lets say my stuff can link over to one of my friends
and see there art.I hope I helped.

I suggest you do a "Google" on "Art Galleries"
or some such related term to enlighten yourself
about just how many "hits" you'll get. Like the
grains of sand on a beach, there are literally
hundreds if not thousands of web hosting sites
for art work. Take your pick!
